Perfect for my Beeswax.
I pre-soaked one in olive oil for 15 minutes. Then I put it in a small jar and poured in melted Beeswax. I eyeballed the amount and added some drops of essential oils. I was going for a skyrim theme so I used juniper berry, pine needle, black pepper and cypress which gave a nice smell.I let it cool enough for the wick to stay in place on its own which didn't take long.I cut the wick down to an appropriate size for the candle, and let it cool completely. The size of the wicks are big so for this small candle I could probably make 3 with just one wick!Lighting the candle:I lit the wick with a lighter and it burned briefly then went out. I re-lit holding the flame on the wick for a bit longer and it it started right up and stayed lit.It crackles subtley, not as much as my Woodwick candles by Yankee candle but they're using soy wax and they're also using different looking wicks with like a hex pattern so that probably has an effect, but this Definitely does the job for me.It burns really clean which is nice and a big improvement on some more traditional wicks I've used in the past that leave big plooms of smoke when blown out, this doesn't do that. Just a small puff of smoke and it's out and the room doesn't smell of smoke afterwards. Again, I used an unrefined raw natural beeswax rather than soy, paraffin or refined beeswax so I can't say for how that might turn out. But with this individual candle, I'm really happy with it.TLDR: ITS GOOD.

Candle Lovers Dream!
The media could not be loaded. These wood wicks are amazing! They are very simple to use and because of the length I was able to use make one medium candle and one small candle out of 1 wood piece (I didn’t have lots of wax from previous use though) - even after doubling it up. The instructions I filled to get it to burn and crackle beautifully was to heat up the wax in the candle, dip the wood pieces into the melting wax for about 1 min, and then once the wax is all melted, submerge the wood in it for a little bit before placing it where you want it to go then leaving it to cool. I also left about 2cm of wood at the top of the candle. This has stopped my candle from tunneling and I’m obsessed with the crackle!

Double the wicks
The media could not be loaded. You need to follow the instructions! I tried skipping the first step (soaking the wicks for 24hrs in a carrier oil) and obviously the candle didn't work. I re- melted having properly soaked the wicks and also doubled them up and they burn brilliantly. Nice crackle (see video).

Wooden Crackle Wicks
The media could not be loaded. I was sceptical whether these would work or not after reading the lower star reviews and nearly didn't buy them. They DO work but read below.I took on board what one of the other reviews said and soaked the wick in oil. The only oil I had was sunflower oil used for cooking which I placed in a takeaway container for a couple of days. I melted the wax by placing the candle in boiling hot water and put a lid on the candle and the container I put it in. It took a few attempts to melt it completely and remove the old wick which looked identical to the new ones.I don't know what type of wax the candle is but was one purchased from B & M which had tunneled. It was still burning ok after 30 minutes as the video shows.Update - The next day didn't go so well. Zero flame the following day but still crackles. The wick burns faster than the oil. I may have soaked the wick for too long in oil and the tunnelled candle is now in the bin. Cost of boiling the kettle four times possibly isn't worth trying to save one that has tunnelled. We have another to try so let's see how it goes.

Complete Waste of Money
These wood wicks are absolutely terrible. Tried making several candles with them and each one was a disaster. The wicks barely stayed lit, and when they did manage to burn, the flame was pathetically small - barely enough to create any sort of melt pool. After about 20 minutes, they'd just fizzle out completely.Save yourself the frustration and money.I wasted perfectly good wax and fragrance oil on these useless wicks. Had to throw away multiple finished candles because they simply wouldn't burn properly. The only thing these wicks are good at is disappointing you.The few that actually stayed lit produced almost no crackling sound - you know, that cozy fireplace effect that's supposed to be the whole point of wood wicks. Tried different heights, different wax types, even pre-soaking them - nothing worked. All 25 pieces were consistently bad.Don't make the same mistake I did. These are clearly cheap, poorly made wicks that shouldn't even be on the market. Complete and utter disappointment.

Easy to use. Easy to burn, crackles nicely
I have made 2 candles so far with these, 1 with 1 wick and 1 with 2 about 1 and a half centimeters apart. Both work well. They give a good effect and don't seem to smoke too much.

Better than a wick

Works well
These work better than expected and were a good stocking filler for my wife’s Christmas present. You have to warm the wax up in order for this to penetrate once fixed in place. It makes a very nice crackling sound.
