2 years later still going strong
I use it with garage band and it has survived moves, being tossed into random drawers and being connected to various computers. Still works perfectly. Picks up the velocity just fine from a pretty good keyboard I got from a pawn shop paired with garageband. Only downside is the lights are crazy hella bright. I fixed it by putting 4 layers of duct tape over the light and now it is reduced to a nice ambient glow. I'm not going to ding them on it, because really, who cares, but if you are going to have it in your bedroom, you will wanna cover up the light. Oh and as others have said, plug In into Out, and Out into In on your midi device. I am guessing this is the norm, but to a newbie like me, it was a useful piece of info.

Amazing, worked perfectly first time I plugged it in . . .
I have a collection of retro and modern synth keyboards, and several different DAWs. Trying to get a USB / MIDI connector that could work reliably with any combination of those synths and DAWs was a perpetual bane of my existence . . . until I got this one. Amazingly, the USB / MIDI connection comes up every time when I want to activate some external MIDI device (or combination thereof). My only complaint might be that the cabling seems a bit thin, fragile looking, but at least it does actually work! Pictured here is just a small section of the synth lab where I have already used this cable.

No-fuss, just works MIDI adapter
Having used other manufacturers of USB/5-pin-MIDI adapters in the past, and having had to struggle with all of them to get gear to work, it was an absolute joy using a LiDiVi adapter for the first time -- I plugged it in, my keyboard was immediately visible to my laptop, I pointed my laptop software to it, and, done! We're staging a community theater production of MAMMA MIA! that requires five keyboards with laptops to manage the 100+ MIDI "voices". Five keyboards, all different manufacturers, ranging from new to 15-years old, laptops running multiple versions of MacOS, as well as Windows 7 and 10. The LiDiVi adapters have worked flawlessly on all the permutations. Two quibbles: The cable connecting the circuit module to the USB port is rather short, while cables to the IN/OUT MIDI ports are quite long and prone to getting tangled; I'd prefer the lengths were reversed. The LED "power" light is glaringly bright. We'll cover the lens with tape, but I wish they'd simply chosen a softer LED light level instead.

Terrific and reliable
I would prefer text on the midi jacks to say “to midi out” and “to midi in” to avoid plugin confusion. For an average user like me I constantly need refreshing on which one goes where, and I own a separate cable that labels them like this and it is a simple fix to ease use.

works great but LEDs are TOO BRIGHT!
No fuss, plug-and-play, works great. However, I had to put black duct tape over the LEDs, which are too bright on a dark stage. Better too bright than too dim, I guess. I bet you could see them clearly in direct sunlight. The cables are very thin and look flimsy. I won't be surprised if it doesn't last forever. I'm tempted to get a second to keep in the gig-saver kit. At this price it's affordable!

Purchased for Peavy Vypyr amp software update
I specifically purchased this item to perform a Peavey Vypyr amp software update. Since I had an older software version it was required to use the Midi port first to update to newer software. After updating software, the new software versions allow updating via the amps USB port. So in reality I used this item once and now don't need it unless I buy another midi device lol Not sure if this item is described as being able to use with sysex files, however the item worked perfectly and IT DOES work with SYSEX files as this is what the Peavey amp program uses. Happy with purchase.

Just doesn’t work. Pro review.
Just doesn’t work. I use a MacBook Pro and use a mio midi cable with my controller. The mio works but is a little short so I bought this. I plug in the LiDiVi and my DAWs recognize a midi in/out but no midi info passes through. I plug in my mio, works perfectly. Back to LiViDi, nothing. I went through the midi studio and deleted and reloaded the automatic driver from th LiViDi. Nothing. I’m a professional and if I can’t get it working, I don’t hold out hope. Don’t buy.

The cable worked to some extent with my Yamaha electric drum kit on the first day, but would frequently drop notes and occasionally just not be detected anymore at all, requiring a DAW restart every few minutes. Since then it's just refused to work. I've reset all my MIDI drivers, restarted my computer, used different USB ports, tried different DAWs, but nothing fixes the problem. The quality of the product is also not very good and the signalling light looks awful and dated.
