## Description

The Pentair Pentek GAC-10 is a granular activated carbon cartridge that reduces unwanted tastes and odors, including chlorine taste and odor, for cleaner, better-tasting drinking water. It is designed for maximum contact between the water and the carbon, providing good general-purpose filtration for everyday drinking and cooking.Water passes through the full length of the carbon bed for optimal adsorption, while an internal expansion pad minimizes channeling and bypass. A spun polypropylene post-filter on a support basket then helps reduce carbon fines and suspended particles. Initial pressure drop is 7.0 psi at 1.0 gpm and the cartridge is rated from 40 to 125 degrees F.This 2.88 by 9.75 inch cartridge fits standard 10 inch housings and is Tested and Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only. It reduces chlorine taste and odor for about 5,000 gallons at 1 gpm. Flush at least 20 seconds before use, and replace when taste or odor returns.

**Q: Will this filter fit the whirlpool whole home filtration system you purchase at Lowes?**
A: It looks like there are several types of whirlpool systems sold at Lowes - some (such as 84219910) appear to use standard 10" filter sizes and this should fit inside of those.    Other models appear to take specialty or big blue sized filter cartridges.

**Q: Where is the difference between gac-10 and cc-10? which is better?**
A: The GAC-10 is a coal based filter & the CC-10 is a coconut based filter. We feel the GAC is a better filter.

**Q: how often should these filters be replaced**
A: These are rated at 5000 gallons.  Most manufacturers recommend replacing at six months, but based on use, you may be able to get a year or more of service out of it.  When your water begins to taste the same as it does from unfiltered faucets, or if water flow slows noticeably, then it might be time to replace the filter.
