Nice kayak motor with a couple minor cons... ...
Good motor for kayak. I like the short shaft. It also runs a long time on a 50ah LiFePO4 battery. My battery has its own charge indicator and Bluetooth capability so I don't have to use the motor's charge indicator. I ran it over 3 1/2 hours and when I got back to the launch ramp I had only used 25% of the charge! I was pretty impressed. I am using it on a 10 ft kayak with a side mount setup. I ran it mostly low speed, but some at higher speeds. I have two cons that I didn't deduct any stars for but still worth noting. The biggest one is at the lowest speed it goes a little fast for fishing. I wish low speed was only half as fast as it is. Not a huge deal but something to consider. Might be partly because my setup is pretty light weight and doesn't take much to push it. The other thing is that the motor is on the heavy side (I think about 20 lbs.). Not that it's a problem to handle, but on a side mount setup it sort of tilts the kayak a little so I try to shift my weight slightly to compensate. This is a minor issue but if that is how you plan to use it you should be aware of this. My battery is so light that it doesn't counterbalance the weight much if I favor it's weight on the opposite side of the cargo hole. Anyway, I'm really happy with it so far.

It's a beast but battery indicator not working for lithium
Overall, it's a beast. I replaced my aging Watersnake 24 lbs with Newport Kayak series 36 lbs - it pulls amazing, I caught 10 stripers within 2.5 hours yesterday by trolling, turns out 5th speed is the one they love chasing lures at. Two issues - the battery indicator shows 100% charge even though I had 20%, per another tester for my LiFePo4 battery. That's the main issue. Second, the speed indicator is hard to see - I put the motor through the pedal drive hole, handle facing me, can't see speeds unless I stretch myself forward quite a bit. Will be placing waterproof labels around the handle.

light weight, sips juice, whisper quiet
This is my first experience with a trolling motor. I side-mounted the 36# kayak model to an Old Town NEXT (basically a one seat, 60 lb, 12 ft. kayak/canoe hybrid). Ran it tonight for the first time, just me (175 lbs), a small cooler, and a fully charged Mighty Max 55AH AGM. (38 lbs) I'm amazed. Lowest speed pushed me along at a leisurely paddling speed. Each throttle speed seemed to correspond to 1 mph... so full throttle had me pushing 5 mph. Once I got the depth set properly (simple adjustment, and with my mount the 24" depth is pretty much perfect)... I settled on speed 3, clamped down the steering clamp, and basically used it as "paddle assist." After an hour spent mostly on speed 3 but occasionally 4 & 5, I glanced at the battery meter. Still fully lit. So I kept going. After 2 hours I realized daylight- not battery-was my concern, so I turned around and ran it back @ full throttle for almost a full hour. I got back to the launch with 80% on the meter. Wow. While not "fast", I am still going to be able to cover a LoT of water with this set up. I'm excited to get out for a full day and see just how much.

Great motor for my Coracle!
Perfect motor for my Coracle! Speed 5 with the 36 pound thrust as about as fast as I would want to go. I went out for a couple hours and the motor worked perfectly for my experimental boat. The battery indicator lights indicated a full charge after a couple hours of fun, but the battery is taking some hours to recharge, so I don't know if the lights are accurate. I'm going to try it on my canoe next. I think the 55 pound thrust would be even better, but probably would drain the battery more. But the 36 is definitely perfect for the Coracle.

Last a long time if you take care of it
Bought this in July of 2018 and it finally died in February of 2026! Washed after every use. Used on a 12ft Ascend kayak, some trips about 1.5 miles each way. Also up and down long river runs here in Florida. Will buy again. 36 lb thrust

ONE OF THE BEST TROLLING MOTOR FOR THE MONEY
I use this on my SeaEagle 285fpb inflatable fishing boat. With all my rods, my tackle back pack, the battery and me on board, this thing can haul my boat rather quick at full speed. The length of the handle is adjustable and the length of the shaft from handle to propeller is perfect for my boat. I primarily use this for freshwater, so I'm not sure how rust resistance the components are. But I do spray them with Corrosion X once a year for protection, just in case. It's very easy to install on my boat and not very heavy. Overall, this is one of the best value for the money when it comes to transom mounted electric trolling motors on the market.

Buen equipo
Muy buen torque me pareció , solo la reversa batalla ya que la Propela no tiene suficiente inclinación está adaptada al avance
