A great cordless stick vacuum
Only just bought this, so only used it twice, but so far so good. It's very powerful, suction is great. It's lightweight and I love the lights on the front. The little dust holder is very easy to remove and empty too. I also like the fact that it stands up on its own, and that the handle folds down for easier storage under the stairs. It is very good value for money.I have had one of these Hoovers before, a good few years ago, it lasted years, but then decided on a change, for whatever reason I'm not sure, but unfortunately that change was a Morphy Richards and didn't last as long, so now I'm back with a Russell Hobbs again. I'm nearly 77, so hopefully won't need to buy another one in my lifetime. Here's hoping it lasts as long as the first one.

Very Good at the price point
At the price point of under £ 75, this is a very good vacuum cleaner. It is not in the same league as a Shark or Bosch, but then the price is much less than half of those. It is basically a hand-held vacuum cleaner that has cleverly been incorporated into a full-size cordless cleaner body. As a result, suction power is moderate and the capacity of the dust chamber is very limited. It is very good with picking up dust and fine particles but struggles with larger bits of dirt. At 22 volts the motor is powerful and the Li-ion battery is good. Too early to judge the useful life of the battery, which cannot be replaced. So when the battery dies, the vacuum cleaner will also have to be discarded. But the 2-year warranty that includes the extra 1-year on registering the product on the Manufacturer's website is certainly very useful. So even if the appliance lasts for a little over 2 years, that means an amortised cost of £ 3 a month, which is not bad at all. For comparison, a previous German brand cordless vacuum cleaner that I bought for around £ 200 lasted a couple of months beyond its 2-year warranty period, with the Li-ion battery losing all ability to retain a charge for more than 2 minutes of use. And a replacement battery was quoted by the manufacturer at over £ 200, which was completely ridiculous. Hence this Russell Hobbs at under £ 75 is fine, as long as it lasts longer than 2 years. The performance of this vacuum cleaner is best when the removable dust filter is completely clean, but the performance deteriorates significantly once the dust-chamber is more than half-full and the filter is also coated with dust and debris. While the filter can be cleaned and washed, a better option is to buy a couple of spare dust filters, so that you always have a new and clean filter in the appliance, while the remaining are drying after washing. This was the performance can be kept at a high level on a daily basis, although the dust chamber will still need to be emptied every day as it is small and fills up quickly. Overall it is a good and decently priced appliance, and performance is good. However, it is not suitable for heavy cleaning where there is too much dust and debris around. For that, a corded vacuum cleaner is the best choice.

It's a sign of middle age when you love your hoover
We've had an old Henry for years and I've spent many a moment frustratingly hauling his heavy red body around the house, watching him get stuck on every door post, looking at me insolently as I desperately try to pull him over the transition from carpet to laminate. I have arthritis and a host of other mobility issues which are just bad enough for something like vacuuming to be much more of a chore than it should be, so I decided to help myself out by getting something much lighter and cordless. I'm not going to lie, I was unduly excited when it arrived and I charged it immediately. It was really easy to put together, everything just slots where it looks like it ought to go, and it started charging without issue. The next day I used it all over the house, which isn't huge but is still 7 rooms, without it losing any power at all. It glides like a dream and after using a big clunky vacuum and then the Henry hoover, which was pretty good on the suction front but was basically an abomination in red, it was delightful to be able to actually easily push a vacuum around for 40 mins without getting tired and hurting my hands. It's very manoeuvrable, you can angle the head around corners and table legs and under sofas with ease and it glides very well over laminate, carpet and lino. The only thing it doesn't do as well as a heavier duty vacuum is pick up a lot of hair. It gets some, especially from the smoother surfaces, but on carpet it didn't always pick it up. I and my husband both have very long hair and we shed like alsatians so we do get a lot of hair build up on the carpet, but we just use a brush to accumulate it and pick it up and throw it away. If you have pets and they routinely shed everywhere you might want something a bit more powerful. But if like me you just need something to zip around an average home without breaking your back or tripping to your death whilst trying to get it up the stairs then this is well worth the purchase, and it is very good for the price. It also folds down at the top to take up less space and I've found it easy to empty and clean. The smaller dustbuster you can remove also works well for the hard to reach places and the stairs. Noise wise, it's the same as any vacuum but there's two settings so you can have it on low if you want it to be less loud. My bird screams at it slightly less than he does the Henry. It holds its charge well so far, I used it a long time the first time and then a few quick run rounds after before needing to recharge it. It shows in the front in lights when it's running low which is handy. It comes with a years guarantee if you run into any issues (you can change this to two years registering online). I would highly recommend this vacuum and am not ashamed of the inordinate amount of pleasure I get from pushing its light weight around without pain shooting up my back and wrists. The only thing that's slightly strange is the lights on the head, they're quite bright and I can't think of anywhere in our house that's really dark enough to warrant them but I suppose if you get up in the middle of the night and fancy a cheeky clean theyre quite useful 😂

So easy to use.
Brilliant vacuum.Absolutely love it.Great suction and just so handy to have in the house.Love the fact you can use it as a hand held vacuum as well.Easy to clean out as well. Takes a couple of minutes to empty and give the filter a quick brush. Love the fact that the dust collection is in the middle of the handle as I find the other type (dust collector at the top of the handle) quite difficult to use. I think they’re so easy to drop the handle with them being ‘top heavy’.Charging is easy - plug it in and just leave it. Charging lights flash on the front so you know when it’s fully charged.2 settings on suction.Very stable when stood. Stays upright.Absolutely brilliant. Would def buy again and again.10 out of 10!!

Great lightweight vacuum cleaner
I have had Shark and Dyson and they have never lasted or lived up to the hype.* This is lightweight therefore easy to take upstairs. I hadn't vacuumed for about 2 weeks and this managed to make the lounge carpet look like new.* It has great suction and battery life. I live in a small property but could do the whole house with one battery charge.* It was as good on the wooden floor as the carpet.* It transforms into a lovely handheld with crevice and mini brush tool which is perfect for stairs as well as skirting boards.* It is also very easy to clean and empty.* My main concern is hair . This does get it up but I need to cut the hair off the brush to make sure the machine is working properly. This isn't a big deal as I've had to do it with previous machines - even the ones that say they have anti-hair wrap technology. So, for the price point it is amazing. I recommend it.

Effective and practical, but REPLACEMENT FILTERS not available at any price!!
Fairly effective considering the small size, weight and power. Very easy to push around, carry up and down stairs and fairly easy to swap to hand-held operation. Gimmicky lights on the front shine in your eyes instead of forwards to under furniture as intended, and in any case the vacuum cleaner doesn't pick stuff up unless the suction part and brushes can actually get on top of it, so you have to swap to the hand-held nozzle to get close to walls, furnitures etc. Emptying is required after every use as the container is only 300ml, but also because all fluff sticks to the filter and blocks it while the container is not even a quarter full; this can't just be tapped out, you have to get a brush and vigorously remove it. On the good side there is only one part to remove, but on the other hand that part has the filter integrated into a chunk of plastic, so when it needs replacing there will be an added cost - and the last three months the manufacturers have not even had the filters in stock and can give me no information about when it might be available, how much it might cost and how often I might expect to have to change it. Battery charging is quick and easy and I can't imagine ever wanting the hassle of a corded machine again.*Update November 2024*I have changed my rating from 3 to 1 star due to two additional factors. (1) After visits from long-haired friedns I have ascertained that the device does not pick up hair - or, to be exact it picks up hair by wrapping it tightly around the front brush until the vacuum can no longer pick any dirt up, and it's then difficult and time consuming to remove that hair (my best method is with tweezers). So not recommended if you have lovely long locks in the household or a retriever-type dog! (2), ultimately the deal breaker in the long term, is that after 6 months' wait there are still no replacement filters available from Russell Hobbs (supposed to be renewed every 6 months) and I have now discovered that RH do not even manufacture either the cleaner or the spare parts. They merely make their money by adding their brand name to an unknown Chinese company's products! So it's impossible to make either company responsible for malfunction etc. Probably the guarantee is as worthless as the customer support. I fear that all these 5 star reviews from people who have only owned the cleaner for a couple of weeks are short-sighted. Within 12 months we will all be trying to return our vacuum cleaners which by then will be useless, all for the lack of a little bit of plastic and mesh.

24 hour opinion/UPDATE
Battery powered vacuums seem to have come on leaps and bounds over the years, once upon a time they were a waste of money. So far I’m impressed with this and its ease of use.The dustbin is rather small but I suppose it’s relative to the size and great lightweight construction of it.Took me a while to work out where you plug the power lead as there’s nothing in the instructions to say where, or indeed anything about charge time.So far I’d give it a firm 7/10 but given I’ve had it less than 24 hours it’s hard to say.UPDATE: sadly it’s developed a fault.Turns itself on despite the switch being at OFF.The when you physically turn it on the speed goes variable and the LED lights don’t work.Contacted Amazon customer service who I must say were helpful and are arranging an uplift and replacement soon.

Brilliant little machine!
Very pleased with this purchase, very lightweight and picks up well, with good battery life. Handle collapses down, so doesn’t take up much storage space. My only criticism is that it doesn’t get right to the edges, but that’s easily sorted. I usually buy the more expensive brands - Dyson and G Tech, but so far I’m impressed with this great value for money little cleaner!
