'Retired' Engineer. (But an Engineer is never, ever 'retired' really! Right, Scotty???) As such, I just love super-magnets! Bought lots of them off Amazon, and elsewhere. These are, BY FAR, the most powerful super-magnets that I've ever seen! By far. I say again, BY FAR!!! They, quite literally, defy gravity! You'll get them in a 'stick' with polyethylene or polypropylene separators. Never throw these separators away. They're worth their weight in gold! Slide the magnets apart and put on something ferrous with the separator between the magnet and the ferrous material. But, be careful, these things have knack for slinging the separator out of the way, just so it can pinch the CR## out of your finger. A couple of teaspoons of blood later, you will be wizened enough to be very, very cautious with these babies!!! DEFINITELY NOT FOR KIDS, or anyone else younger than 68! I mainly use them to attach banners to my garage door-- see attending photo. This particular one might actually be too strong. I'm looking at getting some more for a new project and will go one size smaller. When two of these get stuck to each other, it's possible to get them apart... but boy you have to work at it! Or if it's on the wall and you need to move the banner, etc., off of it, very difficult. These could be ideal if you want to affix something permanently, but a bit too strong if it's an item you plan to take up and down. Best one is finding building framing members, or studs, behind walls. Works on drywall, plaster, wood and metal studs. Does not work through exterior plaster walls.
