ThunderShirt for Dogs, Medium, Blue Polo - Dog Anxiety Relief Calming Vest

I ordered two of these (different sizes), one for my dog and one for my B-I-L. Both dogs do better during thunderstorms with the vests than they did without. My dog does better than his. For my dog, she is much calmer with the Thunder Jacket on. She is still not "comfortable" during a storm, getting in a tight, dark place. But she does not pant and pace with the jacket on.Took a couple of times to get used to how the jacket goes on the dog. Lots of velcro so it will fit snuggly on varying sizes of dogs within the weight range. Definitely adjustable to fit various size chests, etc.I've read other reviews that said Thunder Jackets did nothing for their dog(s). For mine, it works better than I expected. I'll buy another when the time comes.

I have a 5 year old Jack who is afraid of loud noises and we don't do doggie downers. Where we live, the 4th of July is more like a fully involved war zone. Illegal fireworks are a regular occurrence (blown off after every major sporting event, 4th of July, New Year's, or just because neighbors want to be a-holes) and it takes hours to soothe our poor dog (yeah, yeah, I know I'm a party-pooper on the 4th, but I actually care about the mental health of my dog). A week before the 4th, BOOM!, so I put the jacket on her. She was afraid of the velcro (LOL), we gave it 5 minutes and took it off. Husband said, return it. I said no way, I know this thing will work. If you don't succeed, try try again! Next evening, BOOM! so we tried it again. Better, still wondering why she was in a doggie straight jacket, but she seemed to settled down a little. Day 3 (no, I am not kidding, it's a nightly annoyance here), BOOM! and on went the thundershirt - no panting, a little nervous (shaky) settled down and just paced a little. I took her to the mountains to escape the actual event and we returned home early because one of those a-holes lit the hill behind my house on fire (hence my official party-pooper status). So... tonight, BOOM! and on went the jacket. She was nervous for less than a minute! The jacket is a now a game, she loves it, rolls around on the floor tries to get it off and she has been playing all night. I think it's partially comforting and partially a distraction. The noise still upsets her, but considering we've had illegals going off for 2 hours now and she just moved to a new bed to find a quieter spot, I would consider this jacket the best money I have spent on this dog. A+ product. Don't give up, a jacket is not a cure, it is a behavior modification tool to help your dog. Any undesired behavior requires work, patience and positive reinforcement. It worked for mine, I'm sold on this product. The photo shows she's annoyed, but not stressed.

My miniature schnauzer suffers has several anxiety triggers. Storms are probably the worst. He paces, pants, digs, and trembles. We have natural, organic treats to help with his anxiety but even when we up the dose if a storm is coming, he is still terrified. He also has severe separation anxiety and, after being boarded at the vet while were were on vacation, she suggested that we try a ThunderShirt. When a storm is coming, we put his shirt on him. He actually looks pretty cute in it. He still gets very anxious. It's the only time he will sit on our lap. We cover his head with a blanket on our laps and it helps, also. Whether he would be more anxious without the shirt is hard to tell. I gave it four stars because it hasn't helped his anxiety that much, but it may just be that it doesn't work for him. The shirt is well-made, washable, and attractive. It has plenty of strong velcro to tighten up as much as it needs to be. It is a little bit complicated to figure out exactly how to put it on and get it cinched up. ThunderShirts are definitely a good option to try when our dog has storm anxiety.

Our whippet/border collie mix Jim has terrible separation anxiety with both us and our other dog. Our other dog was staying with friends and Jim was crying most of the day from under our bed. This shirt made an instant difference. We're finally able to relax at home because he is relaxed.Update: After a few weeks of using the ThunderShirt it has essentially stopped working. We suspect that our dog got more accustomed to the shirt and now it doesn't have an effect on him. It's too bad because it really was working for a while.One major design flaw regardless of if it working or not is that it attracts pet hair. We have to sticky roll him daily.

Expensive for a 'shirt' but totally worth what the product delivers; a calm dog! We have a 9 mo. old springer /lab mix, who is just so hyper... so much so that we are her fourth owners in her short life. We have only had her a month and thankfully she has been able to be outside much of the time during the days as it is summer, but I dreaded this winter (and rainy days) as I knew she would be a handful to keep in the house when she cannot be outside. She barks, whines, pants constantly, chases our cats, chewed up the vinyl floor edge, and even a wooden arm of a chair in our living room! What would this winter look like?? After reading the reviews on Amazon about the Thundershirt...and that it calms even regularly hyper dogs, I thought I would try it. Well, it may not work for every dog, but I cannot tell you how amazed I am with the result on our dog! She is as mellow as an old well trained dog when she wears it! When wearing the thundershirt, she doesn't pant, whine, bark, jump, chase, and is able to lay beside me calmly in the house now. So happy with the results of this shirt! As I type this she is right beside me (storms outside today) with her chin on her paws looking so calm and well behaved...it's like we have a new dog! Highly recommend you at least try this on your dog if you have a hyper dog!

Würde an Silvester getestet. Mein Hund war etwas ruhiger als normal. Er trägt ihn auch sehr gerne, obwohl er keine Männtelchen tragen will. Aber bei dem setzt er sich sofort hin und lässt es sich anziehen. Auch das Material ist sehr angenehm.

So naturally I'm pleased with it. Not sure if the shirt makes her more confident as her confidence does seem to be growing with time even before the purchase of the thundershirt. I do know, however, she likes the feel of it. Not having to get her to put her paws throw sleeve holes is a boon and this is one shirt she does not grumble about. She also looks absolutely adorable in it. We ordered the blue shirt and have had people comment, "oh cute little boy". Oh, I forgot, pink is for girls and blue is for boys. Leave such social constructs in the dark ages and let's just appreciate the shirt.

It arrived in the time it said it would. We haven't had the chance to use it as there hasn't been any fireworks (this is why we got as our dog hates fireworks!) but we tried it on him and it fits him nicely and doesn't seem to mind having it on.
