Great camera, but
This model was rushed on the market before all the bugs were worked out. One common problem is the battery tray does not make good contact on some and may not power up. I had one out of 3 with that problem but spypoint sent me a new tray free of charge. Some of the readings are not correct but spypoint is working on the issues and correcting them with format updates. A camera like this will go through batteries quicker so if you expect to keep it on video mode you may want to hook it up to a 12 volt batterry and use a game feeder trickle solar panel. I made my own system and had 3 cameras out all summer and fall on video and kept my battery at 100%. Do a little homework and you will figure things out. You will not get this quality of camera at this price. Battery life can be saved by setting your communications to 2 times per day and just because it takes videos does not mean you have to keep it on video all the time. Do not be afraid to change your settings to control picture plan or battery life. Just remember that your settings will not update until your next communication. I am retired and these cameras are a hobby of mine. I have at least 24 out all summer, mostly link micro solar but i am adding more flex cameras this year. I suggest you set a camera up at home and learn all you can about the flex before you set them up in the field. Nothing but spypoint for me!

Not ready for the world yet.
I had been anxiously awaiting the release of this camera as my hunting property has notoriously sketchy cell phone signal and most cellular cameras require a large booster antenna to even work. I got the flex just under two weeks ago, straight out of the box the camera was great. The photo resolution was great, and I was super excited to have a cell cam that did video as this would be my first. I was excited to see 90% cell signal where my other cameras typically see less than 50%. I set it up on the porch of our house to "run it through its paces" before taking it to our cabin property 3 hours away. When you first activate a flex camera, Spypoint gives you a credit of 5 free HD video downloads so you can try out the video function before you have to buy one of their video plans. The first couple of days, the camera was working as it should snapping pictures and video previews depending on which camera profile I had set up in the app. On day two, I decided to try and download one of the videos it had sent a preview of. The camera reported back that the video was "unavailable". That same day, it started randomly sending pictures at odd hourly intervals, but always on the hour. The following morning it reported that the 128gb memory card that I had in it was full, and all of the sudden stopped sending video previews entirely. I pulled the memory card and checked the files, there were photos on the card, but no videos despite the camera being in video only mode. I contacted Spypoint support, they did an over the air reset of the camera, a firmware update and advised that I try a brand new memory card. Got a new 32gb card the next day (thinking maybe 128gb was too big), formatted and installed it, but there was still no video. (It also showed that card as being full within about an hour) Contacted support again, they ran it through another reset, another firmware update, and said they were sending it some other file that they didn't specify and to leave it on for 24 hours, then reset it, and it should solve the problem. Did that, still no video function on the camera. Spent an entire afternoon trying to get it to output a video file, but still nothing. Contacted support a third time the following morning, was told that at this point in time the camera was not in video mode and that was my problem. Somehow one of the updates must have put it back into photo mode. I manually moved it back to video and told them, that the video still wasn't working. The customer service rep this go around told me that although I thought I had 5 videos for free, that wasn't the case, and if I wanted the video to work I would have to buy a plan. When I told her I clearly had 5 videos in my account, and that their own website clearly states that there are 5 videos included, the chat session was ended abruptly on their end. The fourth time I reached out by e-mail to explain the situation one last time as each time I have reached out has taken about 1-1.5 hours of time going to the motions and re-explaining everything over and over again. It has been two days now, I haven't heard back from support at all, but much like other reviews I am not optimistic they will be able to solve my problem before the return window for this defective camera has closed so I am throwing in the towel and sending it back. I have about 5 hours on the line with customer support troubleshooting a brand new camera; which I feel is more than I should have spent but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt before writing my review. It appears to me like this product wasn't quite ready for the market and perhaps it was a "lets push it out the door for this hunting season, so we don't have to wait until next year" kind of a situation. Have a couple of Link Micros that I dearly love, they have been out in the world for over a year and still function flawlessly with the bigger antennas, I will probably try a FLEX again in the future if they work all of the bugs out of it, but for now, I will go a different route. UPDATE 1/24/23: I finally did get an e-mail back about a week later from someone that had a hand in programming the FLEX and claiming they were 100% sure they knew what the issue was and if I could send them the log files from the camera that they were pretty confident they could isolate the problem and send me another update that would solve the issue. I told him that unfortunately they took too long and I had already returned the camera, but that I did still have the SD card with the logs on it and if it would help someone else out, I would be happy to send them the logs. I sent the logs to them later that day, and a few hours later (without even asking) I got a credit card refund for all of the money I spent on the plan for that camera, and had 20 videos and 10 HD photo credits added to my account. Albeit slow (and admittedly I am impatient) their customer service DID eventually reach back out to me in an attempt to make it right. Further, we've been having issues with trespassers at our property, so I just ordered another FLEX this morning, I will post an update as to how things go with this one!

Good
The main reason why I picked this brand over others was that they have a free tier of the data plan. Yes, it is limited to 100 photos a month, but on an isolated trail, that is not nothing. Also, you can control settings oif the camera remotely with it, which is nice. For $99 you can buy a plan that will give any number of cameras 250 photos a month. So let's say I want 4 cameras. For $100, that works out to $2.08 per camera per month. Had I bought a Moltrie camera, it is $9 a month if you pay yearly, or $10 a month for monthly, per camera, minimum. So four cameras is a minimum of $432 over a year. Sure, you get 1000 photos, but still, $432 is a lot more than $99. With other brands, if I cancel the service to save money, I get nothing. With the Spybot, I can still get some photos for free. Ok, so how is the unit itself? It's fine as of 3/2023. I have a Flex and a Link, and no issues after two days. The app is good also. The Link photos are not that sharp but tolerable. The Flex are better. As long as the Flex is $100 or so, and only $20 more than the Link, might as well get the Flex. As for battery life, well - people say the Flex is worse than the Link, but not sure. After two days, mine still both report 100%. In any case, I am going to externally power them with 6x18850 cells. --------------------------------- UPDATE: I compared battery life of the Flex to the Micro by pointing them at the same spot, and setting the same photo settings for each. I powered each by 6x18650 Sanyo NCR18650GA cells in an external 12x enclosure. After 6.56 days, I measured the remaining voltage in each cell, and extrapolated how long until they reached 3.4 volts per cell (which is about 10% remaining). The Flex should last for 2.9 months. The Micro should last for 1.9 months. So call it 3 months and 2 months, and this was winter with temps averaging around 36F. So wow, the Flex has *more* battery life than the Micro. Why are all the YouTubers so bad at their review job? So, given the data plan being best for me, and given that the cameras are fine, I ordered a few more rather than considering other brands.

Went DOWN a few weeks after putting out in field
TERRIBLE TECH SUPPORT, foreign speaking reps who are VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND! This is the second one I have purchased, the first one has been out in field nonstop for many months now without any issues. This one I brought didn’t last a month than went down. Called into support and they are unable to access it remotely, so I need the physical camera in my hands when I call them. (Field camera) people! It’s out in the woods, soooo now I need to retrieve it, bring it home, contact support to get it working again than go back and put it out in the woods! Buy something different, more dependable!!!

Worth purchasing
Been using a handful of these cameras for 2 years now, feel I have enough experience with them to leave a review. I love the flex series. All the cameras I've purchased work as needed and as advertised. I prefer the video mode, as the pictures with these cameras are blurry when not in HD, and it can be difficult to distinguish bucks from does at a distance. I've never had trouble with the camera finding service, even when putting it on properties where I have no service as an ATT user. I typically use Duracell batteries. Come winter time, I have had a few cameras drain the batteries in a few weeks. But that being said, these cameras were operating in sub freezing temperatures, and placed in open areas where high winds moved grass and tree limbs, constantly making the camera take videos. But last season I set up 3 cameras with new batteries in early September, and didn't have to replace them until early December. As for customer service, I've read lots of negative reviews. I, personally, have only received quality and effective customer service. I've used the online live chat on spy point's website, and I was connected with a real person relatively quickly and my issue was typically solved within 10-15 minutes. Going to be adding more of these to my arsenal, and just purchased my first Flex-S, where hopefully I can rid of buying batteries for good. All in all, good brand, one I will be sticking by for seasons to come.

Worst camera yet, DONT BUY! BELIEVE THE REVIEWS, I DIDNT
God. I thought the flex would be different. I was on customer support w spypoint for 8 hrs dealing w a cell link issue and they suggested I upgrade to flex to avoid these hassles. I should've known better. I got the flex same day. I preface this by stating, I'm no novice. I own 6 spypoints and have troubleshooted them all at some pt. I know u need new batteries, SD card formatting/new firmware, etc to make them work done it 100x. But, bc usually the issues that arise are with the SD CARD (meaning when they stop working in the field monthly) it's bc they need firmware updates or formatting. Since flex has the format button on thr camera, allegedly this issue is circumvented. Or so they said. I got the camera, It took way longer to start transmitting pics than expected but it did. I got it into the field and was excited! I had a Stealthcam (reactor) on the same gametrail across from my flex. Thankfully I did, otherwise I wouldn't have known all the animals I missed. The 1st night 3 bucks came through, plus other animals and it sent NONE. I was furious. So I had to go out to the field, start troubleshooting. It didn't work so I took it home. Ad soon as o got home, it worked. So I took it back. Still working and sending as I left. The same thing happened that night, no pictures sent but the Reactor showed me the dozen deer that ate corn in front of it. Never in my life have I had a brand new camera that STARTED WORKING, then stopped. Started working...then stopped. I read reviews that warned me about this camera....but I was emboldened, thinking, "that won't happen to me...ive had so mich bad luck w spypoint, i cant possibly have more." I rolled the dice. What a fool I was. In case anyone reading thinks, "user error"...it's not. I'm even in a spypoint Facebook group and troubleshooted it there w their staff. Sending screens hots of my settings, status page on the app etc. It's NOT ME. It's their garbage camera. I wanted a camera that had the option to send videos and honestly, I got it bc my father in law shares my app (bc I gifted him a Cell link 4 his TC & dl'd the app 4 him <hes tech ignorant> & just signed him into mine to save time ...) I wanted him 2 see those pics from my new camera too, so I didn't get the already determined superior product, Stealthcam reactor, that I own 2 of. SUMMARY: DO NOT BUY. I READ REVIEWS saying this, but didn't. Pls save yourself the huge hassle and frustration. I will be returning. BTW: this company has by far the WORST, WORST customer services you'll ever see. And trust me.if u get these products you'll need them bc they constantly fail. It is INEVITABLE. I have 2 Stealthcam reactors and not once have they failed or have I contacted customer service. Not once. Please be smart and don't buy this.

Decent when it works
I bought two of these after all the hype. The app is fine to use. It works well but not particularly feature rich. Setup is very easy and straight forward. Dual sim makes cell connection easy. Pictures are of decent SD quality even when HD is chosen. Quality isn’t good enough for security use but good enough for wildlife. The ability to update firmware without visiting the camera location is a great feature. Battery life is fair at best. I use the twice a day setting for picture delivery and alkaline lasts a month or so. IMO you can’t set this up at your favorite hunting spot states away. It won’t last long enough. A friend of mine has a Tactacam out in Colorado and replaces the AA batteries each year when he’s elk hunting. I don’t own one so I can’t give personal experience with that brand. One of my cameras has stopped transmitting after only 5 months and kills new Energizer max and even Energizer lithiums in less than 48 hours. Tech support is by chat only, you can’t talk to them directly so it quickly becomes annoying. While nice they aren’t helpful. I now have a $100 paperweight. If you keep your expectations low this isn’t a bad choice. I’m hoping that they will fix these short comings soon as they gain real world experience with them.

When it works it's great, when it doesn't it's a piece of junk
Camera with paid subscription($15/month) stops working even with fresh batteries and a new card AND 100% connection. Customer service was kind enough to refund us $0.09 cents for 5 months of non transmission of photos/videos. When it works it's great when it doesn't like it hasn't for the last 5 months is a piece of crap. We can only suspect they want us to upgrade the plan which we won't be doing. Would not recommend.

This is a USA only camera being sold in the UK
In America this camera can be bought for $99.99, in UK it cost me in August 2023 £120. On the Amazon website at that time it was not advertised as USA only (today it says USA use only). When I finally got round to installing the camera in England it wouldn't work (too late for A to Z guarantee). Seller has flat refused to help so I now have a camera that won't transmit in the UK. So, a total waste of money. Strongly advise against buying this camera through Amazon UK - if things go wrong you will not be helped. If you want to buy a camera for use in the USA, get it in the USA - much cheaper and dealers over there are willing to help. This seller misrepresents their product and simply takes your money. Amazon is no help either.

Broke after one year - warranty is a joke
We were very happy with this camera until around the one year mark When it just stopped working. I read another review that this happened to another customer, but decided to order anyway. When I contacted customer support, he kept repeating over and over again that yes, they have a two-year warranty however he presented me with a list of things to do to Run diagnostics and fix the problem myself. I pushed back so many times, at so many points, that in the end I gave up. I understood Shortly after that, they had no intention of honouring their two-year warranty. I kept telling him that I’m not a tech savy person and that I wanted to simply return the camera in exchange for another one, I didn’t even want my money back. I just wanted a camera that worked. I wanted a camera that I bought and paid for.. Again, he refused. I thought I could return this easily through Amazon however, this is not the case with this product. You have to go through their customer service and their process and it is not Designed to quickly refund your money or exchange The product. The customer service, at least the one I dealt with, was there to discourage a return. If you do want to buy this camera, I suggest you buy it from a store where you can walk in and get your money back or Exchange it for another one. Awful, awful experience.

Nice improvements but cellular reception seems weak
Having used a Link Micro for several years, I appreciate the photo quality improvements that the Flex offers, especially the photo previews that are sent to the Spypoint app. I am having difficulty, however, getting reception at a rural location where the Micro gets a 40% strength signal and normally has no issues transmitting. I purchased a separate antenna but still no luck. My cellular signal in downtown Ottawa is even fairly weak with the antenna @ 40% (so I know that the camera is otherwise working properly). I hope this is resolved in a future firmware update. Edit November 21 - giving it an extra star now that the latest firmware update seems to have made the cell reception much more reliable (albeit when using an external antenna I got for it)
