any dripping issues with the chi? how does it compare to rowena 5080?

There is no dripping. I do a lot of ironing so I always get the top of the line iron. I have 3 of rowenta's best irons that leaks and one where the stainless steel plate gets gummed up with the slightest use of starch. The quality of the rowenta has gone way down. I decided to buy the CHI aftER reading up on the iron. So far I'm very pleased and I don't have to clean the plate after every use. One more thing, I bought the deluxe model and paid 141.00 and later on found that everyone else sells the iron for 99.00. Did not think that amazon would allow vendors to hose their customers this way. I guess from now on I'll check other sites before making my decision where I'll spend my money.

What is the delux vs regular?

1.  The delux has over 400 holes in the soleplate, the standard has over 300.  The more holes you have the more steam you will get.
2.  The delux has a retractable cord the standard does no.  The retractable cord allows for neater appearance and quicker storage. With my experience, the cord on the standard will eventually developen a short. 
3.  The delux has an illuminated electronic control while the standard has an indicator dial.

There are a couple of other minor features but personally, I felt that if the difference was just the extra holes I would still select the delux.

what is a 3 way auto shut off?

The manual indicates that the iron will turn off automatically when left in three positions: resting on the soleplate it shuts off in 60 seconds, resting on either side it shuts off in 60 seconds, and resting on its heel (base) at 30 minutes.  Tilting it more than 30° will reset the auto shut off sensor.
