I was very pleased to find one of these so easily online, and it matches exactly what my previous book described. I had misplaced my previous booklet, and I was in need of some extra simple scales as I was teaching my brother and another bassist. Convenience of online shopping is almost always top notch.

Great first book for people learning the bass. I play and teach many woodwind and brass instruments and I dabble with the violin, so I have a good idea about what makes for a good book to learn from, and this fits with my philosophy very nicely. This book starts with open strings and gradually introduces notes which require using fingers on the strings. It also starts with pizzicato (plucked) playing so the student gets comfortable just making sounds on the instrument before it introduces the use of the bow. This book has clear explanations of what to do and good pictures to demonstrate. An excellent first book!

This is a good beginner book for the Double Bass instrument, I'm pleased with how easy it was to pick up the basics. Like I said it is a beginner book and only went over a couple of scales, the D and C major scales I believe. It also comes with a CD and DVD to help advance your skills by playing along(CD) but I haven't used it. The DVD is to show how to sit and hold the instrument and things of that nature but not necessarily how to finger or play the notes. The book does a good job explaining this though. It is still worth the purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to play this instrument.

I am so pleased I bought this cost easy under £10 with delivery. Income from electric bass background with no understanding of written music. Having boght a double bass i want to expand my abilities plus my taste has moved on some from indie type. I bought several books to try and get me started but they haven,t helped . this is excellent. It shows double bass fingering position in terms of musical note on tab, and alphabetical note as starters. This is great to link where note is on physical neck on bass. I've ordered version 2 excitement. It has basic intro and tunes to get started. For double bass and reading music as a starter best book out their. You can link to a CD and e- learning which im i procees of doing. So pleased I had to leave a review.

Great book for a beginner...child or adult. Very well explained and the mp3/video in their web page are great. Not only metronome ticking but you actually play to music right from the beginning, which is so much more fun. This is a great purchase.
