Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara, Classic Black - 0.4 Ounce

I’ve been swapping beauty products for healthier, cleaner ingredients. Many mascaras irritate the skin around my eyes. I found this one and it fit the budget while actually working! I am really pleased with how well it works and it doesn’t irritate my skin! It goes on smooth, makes my eyelashes appear more full and is not clumpy. The tube lasts longer than I anticipated and I’ve purchased it more than once. My lash health has actually improved while using this - I’m a big fan of the company and its choice to focus on better ingredients.

Absolutely love this for a clean mascara it holds up well the curl in your lashes they look good probably is the one that I have liked the most of the clean mascaras that I have worn Another thing that I absolutely love is that you can remove it with warm water so easy but that doesn’t mean that it is going to get runny through the day. It’s actually amazing for me Because I was struggling with the waterproof mascaras that irritate my eyes so bad when I try to get them off.

The plastic brushes do. not. work. The formula is great, does not flake at the end of the day, and lays on thick enough to make a statement that you get from other volumizer mascaras. Please just make it with a fluffy bristle brush so it goes on without clumping. I have to use an old bristle brush. The plastic brush just clumps it and doesn't fan out the lashes.

For a “clean” mascara, it’s decent. I spent too much time researching mascaras, ordered like 5 different clean “natural” mascaras and this was the winner on initial wearing but it hasn’t held up on the day to day. It is a thicker formula, which I appreciate because I like a bolder mascara. However, it does smudge and dries out REALLY fast. I have to do a lot of coats and even then, it’s difficult to get it to the ends of my lashes (I have very long natural lashes). My photo is 4 hours after putting it on. It’s hard to tell in the photo but easier to tell in real life: the ends of the mascara have already worn off and it’s smudged beneath my eyes (though not horribly). I cannot put any on my lower lashes or it smudges too much so that’s just upper lash smudging. Expect to buy a new mascara every 2 months and struggling with it by the end of the first. However, the best thing about this mascara is that it comes off completely with just warm water and a wash cloth or the shower. No rubbing, no leftover raccoon eyes. After I painstakingly apply every morning, I think, “I’ll never use this again!!” but then every night when I remove it, I think it’s not so bad because it comes off SO easily. I’m on tube 3, I think, and I just ordered a different brand. Onward with the hunt!

I have been on a mission to use cleaner ingredients, and figured it made sense to re-examine the mascara I was using. While I loved my previous mascara and have been loyal to it since the start of the pandemic when it was necessary to find products I could rely on getting delivered conveniently, I thought it seemed like it would give me a similar result to my last mascara after reading the reviews. I am so pleased with this mascara and so glad I tried it! It has almost a sweet scent to it also that I really like, but maybe that’s just me. (Maybe it’s the scent of the beeswax? Not sure, but I enjoy it!) It goes on really nicely and can layer well. The first time I used it, I waited too long to apply another coat because something came up while I was applying, so by the time I started to add more layers of mascara, it got a little clumpier than I had hoped. I thought that I remembered reading something in the reviews though about not letting it dry too long if you’re going to add more, and my last mascara also did that (just not as quickly), so I decided to declare user error and try again the next day. The next day, I applied all coats uninterrupted, and it went on so smoothly and beautifully. I really love it! It provides length and thickness for my lashes, which are not very long naturally. I use an eyelash curler (use might be an exaggeration, but I press lightly with an eyelash curling device for a brief moment) and I like the way the mascara can help my lashes curl and fan out nicely. I am also very impressed with how cleanly it washes off with water. I used to need to use a good amount of micellar water to remove the remaining mascara from around my eyes after washing my face. I have really not had to do that with this mascara. It has not run for me after wearing it all day, nor after a workout. I am thoroughly impressed and plan on sticking with this mascara. I love this company and use a good amount of their ingredients, so I am really thrilled with this mascara and wanted to take the time to encourage others to try it! (Note: I have not swam yet while wearing this, but am not sure when I will be swimming while wearing this in my normal life much anyway, so that is not a factor in my review.) Update a few months in: I’ve realized I do not even need to continue using an eyelash curler with this mascara and my eyelashes stay curled just from the mascara. Also, I don’t know if it is the clean formula or no longer needing to use micellar water to remove mascara, but my lashes have grown thicker and longer and my lower lashes have grown in (they used to be very sparse and thin). I have already purchased another one to use when this one runs out!

Says “water resistant” but smudges within a couple hours. Also doesn’t hold curl very well. I have long lashes but they’re naturally more straight so I curl them. This mascara couldn’t hold the curl like others. I like that it’s clean ingredients but not worth it.

I decided to try this masquera because I fell in love with Burts bees face makeup. I went back-and-forth in my mind. A little bit deciding to buy this mascara or not. But I am so glad I finally decided to try it. I have sensitive eyes that are easily irritated so i'm very choosy about my mascara. This is literally the best mascara I have ever had in my entire life. It goes on easier than others. It doesn't clump up like others and it comes off easier than any other mascara I have ever worn. It doesn't leave the black raccoon eyes underneath my eyes like other maskera. It stays on the eyelashes. Well, all day, I have cried in it and it did not run. And it washes off and my eyelashes actually feel better every day. That I wear it unlike other masqueras. That leave you feeling sticky and clumpy, and just stick into your skin and coloring it black.
