The Love Guru [DVD] (2008) Mike Myers; Jessica Alba; Romany Malco; Meagan Good

The movie is hilarious when it comes to Justin Timberlake and Michael Myers. The plot in my opinion seems to be all over the place but the ending was good! I would definitely recommend it if you're wanting a good laugh!

In my husband and my opinion, this is the BEST Movie Mike Myers has ever made to this day!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband said in order to really get the humor in a lot of the movie, you have to watch it more than once because you hear and see things you didn't focus in on before or just didn't understand exactly what he was implying. As you watch it again, and even yet again, you become more comfortable with the characters and then start to really understand more of the humor and references because it doesn't pass by so quickly. I don't like parts of comedies going by without knowing most of what they're referencing, so I googled a bunch of names, words, and references from the movie that I didn't quite understand... and I gotta tell ya, this movie was genius and hilarious!! I can even say that I LOVE it so much that it's right up there with Jim Carrey's best! After seeing this movie over and over again, I'm still interpreting different parts in different ways and I find it just as comical as before! My husband and I are walking around quoting many parts from the movie, all day long!!! I think the critics zonked out on this one and I won't trust their ratings because I think this movie should have been at least in the top box office hits. We are also big fans of his Austin Powers and Wayne's World... and even Shrek!!!Perhaps we find it so funny because we are into Deepak Chopra, spiritual type stuff, and music, as well as Jim Carrey; so by mixing them all, We're in Heaven! :) Rented it once, bought it immediately afterwards, then watched it at least 15 times, and ready to watch it another 15 times!!!!

To set the record straight, this movie is highly underrated. Like Norbit; The Love Guru did not do well in the box office, however it was a masterpiece regardless. The star-studded cast took a bite out of traditional reality to bring us a childishly-fun ride; this movie contains a hilarious look at the guru genre, and pokes fictional fun at several stars including Deepak Chopra. Guru Pitka (Mike Myers) was an American child raised by a temple of monks (with hilariously dirty names) along side Deepak Chopra, however Guru Pitka never actually learned the full concepts of his teaching and was chastised. Years later Guru Pitka is found to be in competition with Deepak, and devises a plan to becoming a guest on the Oprah Winfrey; which he believes will lead him to national stardom. Fair warning; the jokes are not the kind you would expect from a mature comedian, but they are worth a laugh every time!

This movie is just too funny my teens love it and we love it it's a lil inapropiate for smaller children but mine watched it and realky enjoy it.tgey still say break the pickle tickle tickle or T.M 😆 it's a most watch and it doesn't get boring.

This was a very different movie. Funny and strange. It was great to watch.

Mike Myers is hilarious in this silly but very funny spoof on the life and times of a guru. As a kid, he is abandoned in India and is taken in by an older Indian guru master. He is taught the ways of the guru and grows up to become a sought after spiritual teacher (guru). He is hired to help a depressed black hockey player win back his wife which will in turn get his game skills back. It's loaded with silly, but hilarious, one liners and jokes that may not be appropriate for kids or grandma. Over all, I really enjoyed it because I was laughing all the way through this movie, and that's what it's meant to do.

Mike Myers is know for his parody of pop culture. "Wayne's World", "Austin Powers", "Shrek".And with "The Love Guru", from what I picked up on, is a secret parody of Adam Sandler movies.Seriously, it plays out like the typical Adam Sandler comedy of the early 2000s, just with Mike Myers pop culture references sprinkled in.So for that I think it's mildly interesting, because it comes off that Myers was jealous of Sandler and so he mocked his movie tropes in his own big budget parody.It has maybe one or two kinda funny moments, but otherwise it's the same old gag Mike Myers has been doing since "Wayne's World", with slight variations to the material.

Classic Mike Myers. Both hilarious and sweet. Stephen Colbert is wonderful.

Und wie Scorsese kann auch ein Mike Myers das Rad nicht mit jedem Film neu erfinden.Dafür bekommt man es hier mit einem gewohnt lustigen Myers zu tun, darf sich über zahlreiche Anspielungen freuen und einer hochkarätigen Crew die sichtbare Freude an der Mitwirkung dieses Filmes vom Gesicht ablesen. Sound und Bild sind ordentlich, das Bonus-Material hat keine Herr-der-Ringe-Ausmaße, kann aber als durchaus ordentlich bezeichnet werden.Kurzum: Wer Mike Myers und seinen Humor mag, wird auch diesen Film mögen. 5 Sterne für einen durchaus amüsanten Abend, viele Lachsalven und zahlreiche, lang anhaltende Running Gags!

The Love Guru is typical for a Mike Myers Movie....It's Very Funny and Clever.He obviously watchs life through the Giggle Box and thinks now that would be funny or funnier if I did that.As we very rarely see SaturdayNightLive in the UK (Why do we only get the S**T), I didn't discover M.Myers till Waynes World in which he and Dana Garvey, could get anyone to do anything their way...Areosmith etc.Then came AxeMurderer which involved poetry and a Giantheed!!!!Then as a Bond Fan, the Fantastic AustinPowers, Now that's Fffffunny.....He can play it straight or do voiceovers i.e. see His Biog on imdb...everythingsgoodinhishood.I hadn't seen him for a while then came The Guru....If you've seen the loveguru with Jimmi Mistri the you will understand why TheLoveGuru is So Good.....Look Out for SirBen'Ghandi'Kingsley who I have met and know as a true British Gent, What he gets Stars to do is Brilliant.....Watch this Film and Maybe You will see How Mike shows that Love and Laughter Conquers all....:)Next up his Kieth Moon Project..........I can't wait for his take on the Madness of a truely Brilliant Band and a Man who Could Hit more drums than any other Human(was he part Octopus) and Do more substances than an Elephant!!!!!!! Tough but if anyone can Mr.Myers can....A true Knight of Comedic Genius....Oh Yes and The Guru a True Night Of Comedic Fun...Allthebest Alex...

The bottom line is: this movie made me laugh. I am glad I bought this movie because I can see myself watching it again and laughing again with it.If you like Mike Myers you should give a try. As you can see, some people hate it, some people love it. I think this movie has an undeniable charm, and if you want to find another excuse to watch it Jessica Alba looks very cute, and Justin Timberlake does a good acting job.I am into B movies and world cinema, but sometimes it's just really difficult to find a fun movie that has such a feel good factor as this one. Oh well, yes, it's a little bit dumb, but I had a great time. Sit down and relax, take it easy. It's not gonna be always about war dramas and psychological thrillers. Don't you think?

I loved the first two Austin Powers movies but thought the Goldmember and Cat In The Hat was a bit of a low for ole Mike.Not to be confused with the similarly titled (terrible movie) The Guru. This film sees Mr Myers back on form with inuendos aplenty, double ontondres galore and plenty of puns.Don't listen to the crittics, if you liked International Man Of Mistery get it and make your own mind up. What have you got to lose besides a couple of quid and a a bit of wee from laughing!
