The Time Traveler's Wife [DVD] [2022]

I really love this series and I'm disappointed to find out there won't be a series two, because the story was only part told in this one.I read the book many years ago and have re-read it many times since. I saw the film but that was just OK, wasn't the greatest version. But this series re-told it really really well. Modernising to our current time, making Claire rather more feisty, but somehow keeping a feel of the original.By having the sections talking to camera it felt like the original first person narratives. I liked the way each episode tackled a different theme, yes events were moved round a bit from the book to achieve that... but hey that's part of Henry's life, nothing being in order.I thought this was one of those rare things... a book adaptation that competes with the book for which is best.

Not as good as we expected

A much more faithful adaptation of the book than the dreadful film. I got through the whole season in two sittings so I clearly enjoyed it. My only real negative criticism is that the make-up to make the male character older is laughably bad (just dark circles under his eyes basically). The story ends at a happier point in their journey, but the news that it's not been renewed for a second season means that the most memorable scenes from the book (their time travelling daughter, and the time traveller visiting his wife in her old age many years after his death) still haven't made it to screen.

Watched it on TV and could not wait for the DVD which i ordered as soon as poss, it arrived Tuesday and i watched the whole thing that night and it was better the second time it is soooo sweet and romantic and funny, and you get to see Theo James bum a lot which in itself is amazing. And so much better than the film and also slightly different a must watch and if you are a fan of Theo you will must deff love this, get it

Didn’t enjoy. Weird, daft and ridiculous

I found this on Prime Video whilst suffering from Covid.The book is one of my and my daughters’ all time favourites, and we were very disappointed with the movie version - especially the ending of the film.This version is LITERALLY EVERYTHING that the film wasn’t.PerfectSublimeLike the book, if you love the book you have to watch it.Please, I beg of the makers - PLEASE it doesn’t cover the whole story, MAKE THE SECOND SERIES!

Good and patient telling of a book that jumps backwards and forwards with the characters.The cast portray the complexity of the tale well.

I watched this series on Sky.Having seen the film version, I have to say this was waaaay better!!! Rose Leslie & Theo James are a smoking hot couple and Theo James's bottom deserves awards on its performance alone!!!If you haven't read the book, basically Henry is a time traveller and we're taken back n forth between various points of his, and then their, life/lives.We see Henry meet Claire (the wife) at 6 and its very sensitively done to avoid any talk of grooming I suppose.HBO are clearly crazy as despite the amount of buzz on social media about this series they have just cancelled it. There is a petition on Change asking Netflix to pick it up if you're a fan!I will be buying this series and hope season 2 will come at some point.
