Works better than most other RCA to HDMI out there at this price.
This thing is amazing. I've used so many other RCA capture devices and upscalers- all with about the same mediocre quality or some fatal flaw. But this thing? This inauspicious thing delivers the goods! This thing actually works! There's nothing to it- just plug in the source via RCA, and output via HDMI. Select 4:3 or 16:9, and that's it!Mostly I've used this to capture and upscale VHS footage, and despite a flicker of discoloration now and then, this thing holds on to the video quality for better and longer than I've seen before. Watching VHS tapes on an HDTV through this thing is actually FUN! Colors are ever so slightly crunched, with some harsher blacks and brighter blooms, but it's not bad- especially given the option to force original aspect ratio.Worked fine on my old video games too, but honestly I wouldn't use it for that because it only takes composite video. I highly recommend you use S-video or better for old video games on newer TV. That said, it's still better to use this device than to simply plug your composite video directly into the TV.So yes, I highly recommend this device. I wish I'd purchased it years ago. Honestly one of the best composite upscalers I've ever seen.

Easy Setup
THIS ITEM WORKED FROM THE START! YEAH! I was a little leary of this product because I purchased a device with a different form factor that did not work. The hook up was easy. Simply plug the three composite plugs from the game machine into the Dingsun RCA to HDMI Converter which is easy enough to follow the color coding. Plug the HDMI cable into a port on the TV and plug the AV adapter in an outlet. All that's left is to select the desired aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9 by way of the slide switch on the end. That's all there is to it. Once the game console is turned on with the TV on the matching HDMI channel, it just works. Love it and would highly recommend this over the Portholic unit.

It worked!
I had to hit reset a couple of times on my SNES, but then the picture came up. I think it needs to be plugged in before I turn on the SNES. But that is only a guess. Super happy I can play my old systems on a newer TV! Getting the one that does not stretch the image to let me use the 4:3 aspect ratio makes a big difference in 'original' feel vs. meh...

Great Buy - Does What It's Supposed To
I've been looking for something similar to the Retrotink and I'm so glad I found this - especially for the price. The picture and audio quality isn't actually all that bad. There is a little noise sometimes around -50db on the audio, but I imagine that's due to the analog channels.I use this with an elgato HD60s capture card and it works great if you're interested in recording or streaming your retro consoles.I've confirmed this working with the NES, SNES, and N64.
