The Right Laptop For The Right Application
As with all things I buy, I thoroughly do my research and very rarely get things wrong, more out of interest than necessity. I would recommend buying the right laptop for what you want to use it for. This is why buying a laptop can be confusing as there are so many brands and models, however, if you narrow them down to what you want to use it for then it makes it much easier. If you want to play games with great graphics then you will need to buy a laptop that is specifically made for gaming but it will also do all the other stuff such as internet, email etc but they cost a lot more money than a normal laptop . My remit was very simple, I go o holidays and stay overnight in hotels on business so being able to watch films (Amazon Prime of course), surf the net, email then this laptop is ideal. 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD is ample for what I want and at a very good price for the specification. The I3 processor is fast enough for me. I bought a larger screen but makes watching films and doing emails a lot easier as I am getting on a bit with age and eyesight is not perfect. The laptop is quick to start, smooth and responsive on web surfing with no lag on watching films so ticks all the right boxes for me. A must was a HDMI port so that i can connect the laptop to a tv screen to watch films on a bigger screen and a USB 3.0 port so that data transfer is quicker. All in all very pleased with my purchase to suit my needs

Great laptop for everyday lighter use for 230 pounds
For the price of 230 pounds this laptop is a steal. Intel i3 processor even if it is 10th gen. enough for most people's everyday use. For more serious editing or gaming this is not your choice, go for intel i5 or ryzen 5 min. instead. This comes with 4 onboard (soldered) and 4 interchangable ram, ddr4, so it is upgrabable up to 20 gb (4+16). There is an empty hdd slot as well so you can extand your drive. Ssd is 256 gb and also upgradable. Wifi card is realtek 8821ce, which is ac at least but not a speedy one and does not support wifi6. But you can upgrade this as well. In everyday use, after a good setup (proper driver installation, switch from win 11 s to win 11 home for free, windows 11 proper setup) this laptop is very handy and quick. Screenwise it is a bit dull, not so bright, not so sharp, not ips but lcd led (tn). Like I said for this price it is good enough and FullHD at least. This particular discounted priced model has no microSD slot, no fingerprint sensor and no backlit keyboard! This does not charge via usb type-c either. Its own charger is 45 watts capable one. Battery life with medium brightness, wifi on but other wireless hardwares off lasts about 4-5 hours with browsing the internet mostly reading articles. With FullHD video playback it drops to 3-4 hours. But my laptop is still brand new so battery test is not so reliable from me at this point. It could be better I think. All in all it is a great laptop and more importantly you can upgrade some components later on. And it would be better if you do. 1 TB hdd, wifi 6 card, 8 gb ddr4 ram cost about 80 pounds together. Maybe the wifi antenna is just 1*1 in the machine but it can be easily upgradable to 2*2.

Good laptop could have better battery life
ASUS Vivobook 15 X515JA 15.6" Full HD Laptop This comes with windows 11 home S so if you need to run application that not in the windows store then you can opt out of the windows S mode and it will revert to the usual windows home 11. This can be done in the windows store to switch version or even upgrade to Pro if needed too. The laptop itself isn't half bad, for the price you pay its pretty good value its snappy while being responsive and should be able to run most applications and deal with their needs rather well. Its not a gaming laptop nor a system that can be used to run heavy applications, so if you need a system for anything else this is perfectly suitable. Wouldn't be a bad laptop if your needing something for school, college etc. The battery is probably the only thing that i felt within the price range could have been better it still last around 3 - 4 hrs however, this will also depends on the settings and application used so will vary from person to person. Has most connectivity that one needs so one USB-C, three USB-A one of which is a USB 3.2 a HDMI and micro SD card slot which personally could have been a normal SD card slot. Overall is a quick, snappy laptop that prefect for school or college needs. Will run all windows application perfectly fine. Only criticism is the battery life which i felt if aimed at the student could have been a little better. Build quality is as expected within the price range, its still a nice simple yet sleek design from ASUS.

Bargain Laptop
I bought my partner a Asus laptop thirteen years ago which still works perfectly so thought I'd buy one for myself! The laptop appears to be very well built and runs windows 11 (which I dislike immensely) with ease. I think it would be more than adequate for most users who mainly run microsoft office and the like. It is very quiet, has decent graphics and is more than fast enough. Very good machine at a very reasonable price.

don't use for gaming so don't know if it's good for that
but a nice laptop, neat looking and reasonably light. I hadn't realized that the screen on my old one was so bad until I saw my photos on this one.. bright and clear. Quick response to commands.. to be expected with a new laptop I suppose. It is windows 11 which in my view is set out better than windows 10, but it is a little more prescriptive. Microsoft wants you to do what they say! But you can learn ways around certain things. Overall a good value buy for my particular needs Had for 5 months and it won't start / boot up. If I'm very lucky it might after many, many attempts. Have returned for repair and am still waiting return or comments or any kind of feedback. Not happy

Laptop for browsing
I recently purchased the ASUS VivoBook 15 X515JA, and I am pleased with its performance, especially considering its reasonable price. This laptop is a fantastic choice for everyday use, particularly for browsing the internet and watching videos. The 15.6-inch Full HD display is vibrant and sharp, providing an excellent viewing experience. Whether I'm scrolling through websites, watching YouTube videos, or streaming my favorite shows, the colors are vivid, and the details are clear. Powered by an i3 processor and 8GB of RAM, the VivoBook 15 handles everyday tasks with ease. Browsing the internet is smooth and responsive, even with multiple tabs open. It boots up quickly, and I've experienced no lag when switching between applications. The 256GB SSD has fast read and write speeds. It not only ensures quick system responsiveness but also offers ample space for storing documents, photos, and videos. While it may not be the largest storage capacity, it's sufficient for my needs, and the speed is a significant plus. The laptop offers a variety of ports, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and a microSD card slot. This versatility makes it easy to connect to external devices and expand the laptop's capabilities. The ASUS SonicMaster audio technology delivers surprisingly good sound quality for a laptop in this price range.

Good machine - when it works.
When it is working the machine is pretty good for the price (apart from the clinky keyboard as you type). However, mine restarts at a random time, once every 6 or 7 days, even when in use. That is SO frustrating. I contacted Asus and then provided me with some unhelpful information to try and resolve this - and then I had to send it in to a repair shop. It came back with a report that didn't mention my issue, but said that they'd wiped the machine and reloaded all the software. I wasn't sure how that would help, and it evidently didn't. The machine lasted four days before doing the same again. I've ticketed the issue again after talking with their support people on the phone. I've no real confidence that they will deal with this effectively this time. If they do manage to deal with this then I'll come back and update the comment. EDIT. ASUS kept saying the machine worked when their repair people looked at it. However, I do not believe they had it long enough for the power error to show again, but within days of my receiving it back the same issue was there. ASUS help is a waste of space. Amazon refunded me and took the machine back.
