How hot do compressors get? Will this blanket reduce the compressor lifespan?

It really depends on the system. Theoretically, yes, the compressor is cooled by the refrigerant. In practice, depending on your system, the load it's under, how clean the coils are, and it's state of refrigerant charge, adding a blanket may cause overheating. The best thing to do is attach a temperature probe to the high side (the smaller tube) and monitor the temperature of the hot gas with the system running for several days before and after adding the blanket. If, under the same weather/load conditions, the high side temperature is increased by more than 2 or 3 degrees with the blanket on, then it may well bring a premature end to your compressor's lifespan.

Would this blanket wrape cause the compressor to heat up and possibly fail prematurely?

No, the blanket does does not cause overheating.  I have had two of these on two different A/C units for 3 years with no problems.  Be aware that these blankets do a great job of reducing the running noise of the compressor, but they do not reduce the start and stop noise when the A/C is cycling.

does it fit Gardian AC ?

This blanket is a universal fit.  I used mine on a Trane.  It fits over the compressor unit itself and my compressor is approximately 1 Square Foot in size.  Unless your compressor is unusually large or small, it should work.
