The shield
The shield does not ope properlyI had to sand if the toggle tip so it open and stays open properly for changing the drill bits !

Fits just fine but needs some adjustment
Fits my silverline pillar drill but needed to modify it slightly so that it would flip up correctly. This was not because it's been fitted to the silverline but would be like that no matter what it is fitted to. You have to file away the ridge in the hinge which restricts how far it will travel otherwise the springs will always force the guard down when you let go.

Good quality product.
I purchased this product to replace one which broke after many years of regular use.Although the new one appeared to be identical to the original, unfortunately it wasnβt. I needed to make two modifications in order to make it fit my drill unit. However, that said, the new unit now works fine and should last me for many years.

Works ok, but 1 spring was damaged on arrival.
This is a direct replacement for the original guard. However 1 of the 2 springs was squashed flat inside the packet. I've had to use one of the old springs, which obviously isn't shiny, not that is important on an old drill press, but it would have been nicer to have 2 undamaged springs supplied.Otherwise it does what it should.
