Q: how do you plug it in and plug in to what?

It screws into the water return from the pool pump. Assuming you have an in-ground pool, you should have several returns with an eyeball fitting that directs the water. You will have to remove the eyeball fitting and screw in the waterfall fitting. Most fittings are the same size, but the waterfall may come with adapters or you can pick one up at the hardware store. The waterfall can be adjusted, but if it is not high enough for you (low pressure), you can reduce or block one of the other returns in the pool (again, with a fitting from the hardware store) to increase the pressure. I highly recommend. Waterfall is nice touch for pool, plus waterfalls WILL decrease the temperature of the pool by about 5 to 10 degrees. Good luck!

Q: We have a 27’ round above ground pool. Does this reach to the middle and does the pipe keep it in place?

That is incorrect, David must have extremely weak pressure! Check your pump David. 6 inches means barely a trickle is coming out...If you have sufficient pressure the fountain has a lot of reach and would reach the middle of the pool. Yes the pipe keeps in in place!

no quick valve, this fountain only fits 1 1/2 female pip threads

Q: will this work with an above ground pool?

I would say so it goes off the pressure of the pool flow. Great product!!!
