I have two of these and I am very satisfied with both. They lay flat open and you can add or remove pages which I need the flexibility to do.

It's a slab of split monotone dyed leather with a binder ring riveted in...no stitching, no liner, no pen loop, just two pieces glued together. As such it is overpriced. The pen loop is attached to a cardboard page in the binder. If you want basic this is most definitely it.1st Update: The two pieces (inside and outside) have begun to separate, the glue not able to hold them together. It would be better to avoid this potential problem by selecting a different product which has a stitched in lining. One gets what they pay for, a single piece of thicker leather this size running upwards of $50 or so..
