Q: Will this work on removing odors from a room containing items from a decomposed body. Also, are there any filters that would need to be changed?

Yes it will please read my review I posted today. The one thing that must be done is remove anything that has biological waste on it the smell will remain on it no matter what. For example if you have a sub floor and a person died on the floor that floor has to go and maybe the joists or encapsulate the joists. Anything that can not removed like a concrete floor has to be encapsulated. But the odor does in fact permeates anything and everything nothing in a house is safe from that odor no matter how far away from the body even the attic, but this machine works, even for that. I know first hand.

Q: Does it have a UV Light on top of the ozone generation.. inside to sterilize the air?

No, But the ozone the machine produces is far more effective at sterilizing the air than uv!!!

Q: We are considering this unit for our small historic boutique hotel. Can you describe the odor from the machine? Is it offensive?

The odor from these machines is similar to that of outside air just after a lightening storm. It's is a fresh type of odor but keep in mind this unit is not tone used in occupied spaces - it is much too strong for that. The space should be aired out after use before the space is occupied. Also it is important to remember that the source of the odor you're trying to remove must be eliminated for this to work - it will remove it but will not keep it from returning.

Q: Aside from "no people and no pets present," are there any other precautions I need to take before running this generator? Remove house plants?

No nothing else :) Actually plants are fine to. The only precautions you need to take is people or animals because high doses of Ozone (this is a commercial very powerful unit) can cause lung irritants. I know some people who stay in the room but we dont suggest it at all. If you follow the instructions it works very very good at removing powerful odors.
