fASCINATING STORY
Mr. Gronbeck-Tedesco tells the story of the migration of thousands of Cuban children to the United States. This history of their experience was so engrossing that I could not stop reading. It should be made into a movie. It is very well written and totally enjoyable. I will follow his future publications. I highly recommended this book. . Robert K.

Migration and Children
A comprehensive account of a little-known initiative growing out of U.S.-Cuba relations in the early 1960's, this book adds previously unpublished information to the history of U.S. immigration policies and the welfare of children. The narrative is engaging and fills a gap in our understanding of child welfare in the sweep of political change.

I was a product of this program . Some of the things mentioned (from my perspective) were accurate, others not.

I had no idea!
A forgotten and little known part of American History. Sending Cuban children, unaccompanied to Miami to save them from Communism. What could go wrong? Well written, educational and worth the read. Loved it.

A Story Largely Untold
While thoroughly researched and presented, this book was also highly compelling to a casual reader of history. In this book Dr. Gronbeck-Tedesco tells the story of Operation Pedro Pan. His analysis covers the range of contexts and experiences of the individuals involved in what has largely been an untold and misunderstood story. The sixteen chapters cover the major themes within the historical event while also highlighting and centering the individual stories of the those involved. In a massive event involving tens of thousands children, it is those individual stories that linger with the reader.I highly recommend this book (it often felt more cinematic than academic) to all those interested in the narratives of history that have largely remained untold.

Extraordinary history that I didn't know. Well written!
This is an amazing story, and the author does a good job showing connections between the past and the present day.
