Chemistry AHA Serum Deodorant Roll-On for Sensitive Skin, Beachy

I rarely write reviews this long, but this deodorant genuinely deserves it because I know there are women out there going through EXACTLY what I went through and thinking they are losing their minds. For context: I have been anti-aluminum deodorants for almost 10 years. I switched years ago to potassium alum crystal deodorants/alum stone because I personally preferred avoiding traditional antiperspirants. I eventually even used the alum stone in roll-ons and sprays form. That worked for me for YEARS. Then life changed. I moved, no longer had access to my usual setup, and decided to start exploring the “best” aluminum-free deodorants on the market because I was also interested in finding something with fragrance that still worked well. That turned into a VERY expensive and frustrating experiment. Over the 2 years. I have tried what feels like every viral natural deodorant on the market. Here are the major ones I personally tried: • Native • Lume • Salt & Stone • Nécessaire • Schmidt’s • Donna Karan Cashmere Mist aluminum-free versions • OUAI St. Barts deodorant • multiple UK natural deodorants • random clean beauty brands from stores and airports while traveling Some were better than others, but NONE solved the actual issue. And this is where I need women, especially women in perimenopause or women dealing with hormone fluctuations, to really pay attention. My issue was NOT regular daytime sweat. Most aluminum-free deodorants seemed “fine” during the day because I rarely sweat not in the hot or cold weather. The real test was NIGHT SWEATS. I would wake up in the middle of the night and immediately smell myself. And not just “normal sweat.” It was a very specific hormonal smell that seemed to happen especially during: • hot flashes/night sweats • hormonal fluctuations • progesterone use • stress sweating • perimenopause symptoms At one point I was bathing 2–3 times a day because I genuinely thought something was wrong with me. Some deodorants actually made it WORSE. I noticed that certain natural deodorants mixed with sweat overnight and somehow amplified the odor by morning. Lume personally was the worst experience FOR ME. I know some people love it, but my body chemistry absolutely hated it. Native did not work for me either. Salt & Stone smelled beautiful initially but did not survive hormonal sweating. Nécessaire was decent, but left a tacky film under my arms that I could constantly feel. OUAI St. Barts smelled amazing in the tube, but on me it mostly left a white/tacky residue under my armpits and still did not solve the actual odor issue. Donna Karan Cashmere Mist gave strong fragrance coverage, but honestly it felt more like perfume masking odor rather than actually stopping the odor process itself. Then I started noticing something VERY specific: Whenever I took progesterone capsules, the odor became dramatically worse overnight. And bizarrely, it was mostly my RIGHT armpit. I thought I was imagining it. I would wake up and instantly notice the smell even after showering before bed. It got so bad that I became reluctant to even continue progesterone because the odor change was THAT noticeable. Then I found Kosas Chemistry. And THIS is where everything changed. The first thing I noticed was that this product works completely differently from most natural deodorants. Most aluminum-free deodorants rely on: baking soda charcoal magnesium starches fragrance oils Those ingredients mainly: absorb moisture cover odor or try to neutralize odor temporarily But Kosas Chemistry seems to actually change the underarm environment itself. The key ingredients are: Madelic Acid Lactic Acid Shikimic Acid These are acids commonly used in skincare. After researching it, I realized WHY this worked when everything else failed. Hormonal sweat is different. Perimenopause, progesterone, stress sweating, hot flashes, and hormonal fluctuations can change: skin pH bacteria levels sweat composition oil production and the underarm microbiome This deodorant appears to work by lowering the skin’s pH so odor-causing bacteria cannot thrive as easily. That is COMPLETELY different from simply masking smell. And I can literally FEEL the difference. The real test for me was sleeping. The first night I used this: No odor. Second night: Still no odor. Then I tested it again with progesterone because I honestly could not believe it. Still no odor. At that point I knew this product was fundamentally different from every other aluminum-free deodorant I had tried. There was even a day I: exercised cleaned all day sweat heavily delayed showering for hours And I STILL did not have the horrible hormonal odor I had been struggling with. That NEVER happened with the other brands. What I also appreciate: no overwhelming fragrance bomb no thick suffocating feeling no heavy greasy layer no tacky residue like some cream deodorants no “trying to cover sweat with perfume” effect It genuinely feels more like underarm skincare than deodorant. And honestly, I think that is why it works. If you are someone who: thinks all natural deodorants fail smells worse at night than during the day experiences hormonal body odor is in perimenopause is taking progesterone gets hot flashes/night sweats notices odor changes linked to hormones PLEASE consider trying this before giving up on aluminum-free deodorants entirely. I genuinely wish I found this sooner because I wasted so much money trying products that simply were not designed for hormonal odor chemistry. This is the first aluminum-free deodorant in YEARS that made me feel normal again. Easy 5 stars.

This deodorant is the best clean one I’ve found ever! It works so well even on a hot summer beach day. I have not experienced any body odor since using it, even postpartum! I am sensitive to smells and this one is natural and fresh and doesn’t leave a nasty BO mixed with fragrance smell at the end of the day which is what I don’t like about other deodorants. This one doesn’t stain clothes or leave residue. It goes on smooth and there is no need to reapply. It’s aluminum free and I feel safe to use it around my baby as it doesn’t have a strong lingering scent. The blue scent is so nice and I can’t wait to try the other one as well.

Best deodorant I've ever used. Been using it for a few weeks and it's been great. The scent is extremely subtle and is gone very quickly. So it's not the kind of deodorant that masks odors. It just straight up prevents them from existing. Anti-perspirants don't really work for me and they tend to stain my clothes, so I opted for deodorants years ago. Baking soda irritates my skin, so can't do those. Also get irritated by certain fragrances. Kosas doesn't irritate my skin. And I sweat plenty - workouts, yard work, sun bathing - I've never caught any foul odors. I rarely go 24 hours without a shower, so I can't vouch for any extended protection. But I've used several acidified deodorants - even stridex pads - and this is the best. The last acidified deodorant I used (lume) didn't work for long, maybe a few hours, and the fragrances were nauseating. Kosas is the real deal. The only cons I can think of are: shaking - you need to shake it, since the mixture likely settles or separates in the bottle. Not a big deal. Also, it's a liquid serum. It's gonna be wet. I apply a light layer, and give it 60 seconds - it's usually dry by then. Maybe a tad sticky, but I don't notice - I'm a guy, so maybe the hair helps mask that. The biggest knock I have is the cost. I thought about docking a star for the price, but it works too good. If I ever find a cheaper option that works this well, I'll jump ship in a heartbeat. But for now, I'm sticking with Kosas.

I’ve been using this for over a year now, and can honestly say I love it. It’s one of the only non toxic deodorants that doesn’t leave a rash on me or my husband. The smell is pleasant, it rolls on easily, and it works well. Keep in mind that when transitioning to a lower tox or non toxic deodorant, it might take some time for your body to adjust before it starts working properly. I’ve been in the non toxic deodorant realm for multiple years, so this wasn’t a problem for me. Diet also plays a roll into how good or bad you smell. Overall, I would highly recommend and I would keep using. Happy with this product.

I’ve used this only a couple of times. It smells weird but that may just be me. I used a couple of times in the central Florida heat and it seemed to work. I didn’t smell body odor just the deodorant itself. So I’ll take that as a win!

On a sleepless night in December, I went Amazon browsing. I thought to look for a new aluminum free deodorant. I've tried other brands aluminum free versions like Secret, Schmitt's, Tom's and my current favorite for years, Native. Native was the best working for me out of the rest I've tried. However, anytime I sweated I smelled. I reminded myself often of those "Sure or Unsure" commercials, keeping my arms down throughout the day so no one could smell my armpits. Embarrassing! I was always Unsure! Hence, my sleepless searching. Thank GOODNESS for the reviews on this. With the reviews and the word "chemistry" on the packaging, I thought "why not" even if it's expensive AND a roll-on. I haven't used a roll on in decades because of that wet, swamp feeling it leaves in the armpits. Sadly, putting this on, I still have that wet, swamp feeling, strutting around in a sports bra in the morning, flapping my arms like a chicken to get them to dry. They then, feel a little bit tacky for a bit which I don't care for. And the smell of the Serene Clean is meh. Not pleasing, but not gross. (I'll try the beachy scent or unscented next). It's not strong though, so no one else but me would be able to smell it. The smell goes away by the time it's dry. So I tested this out, wearing sweaters inside, covering myself in a blanket, and put this to the test. I know by the afternoon and definitely by the end of the work day, I was Unsure with Native, but now I am SURE. THIS PRODUCT IS A MIRACLE. I need to make sure everything is healthy for the body, because now I'm skeptical that this is actually working. I'm not sweating, so I'm not sure what's in it to be Antiperspirant like, but my armpits aren't swampy at the end of the day. I can't wait to try it out working out. This will now be my go-to deodorant.

I have bought this deodorant for years. My shopping history shows that I've bought it over a dozen times. I like the formula, the light scent and find it effective. HOWEVER, the last 2 times I have bought it, the roller ball has been defective, so I give up! The roller is stuck and doesn't pick up and apply the product, so it has become worthless. The packaging fails.

Omg! I have FINALLY found something that works!! Okay back story. I don’t have a problem with pit sweat but it’s the odor that I couldn’t seem to get control of. I tried Dove clinical strength. I tried secret clinical strength. I tried men’s anti-perspirant/deodorant. None of them worked and if they did, it was only for a few days and I had to reapply. I even washed my pits with Hibiclens when I showered and then applied deodorant. The Hibiclens worked Amazing by killing all the bacteria and it worked for a while and then I don’t know if my pits got used to the deodorant or my routine buuuut it didn’t last. Fast forward… Now I feel like I have no odor at all! I always got worried about wearing my new shirts and was self conscious about the odor. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because even though I TRY to roll on a small amount there is just no way it’s possible since the roller lets out more serum when you apply it and is too wet. My underarms AFTER drying feel sticky that’s the 4 star rating. Maybe a better applicator Kosas? BUT! I found a solution to the stickiness if you want to give it a shot. I use my Hibiclens in the shower, apply the Kosas and when it dries I add some powder and VOILA PERFECT PITTIES!! Not just for a few hours but literally all freaking day 🤯 Mind Blown guys.

Im glad i chose the unscented, but the consistency is watery and i might finish this one sooner... hope the brightening the skin claim is true, not seeing result yet, but overall its ok

The scent of the blue option is not great. Very chemical and overpowering. I’ve tried the white one and it’s much better.
