Book is a nice overview of the history of jazz. My 4th grader, for Black History Month, instead of a biography of the usual ( King, Parks, X, or other major players in the civil rights movement) was assigned a biography of a Black musician who made a significant contribution to American culture. Plenty to choose from in this book.
