Zamberlan217 Free Blast GTX

I bought these as a gift and they were received very, very well by the recipient, who reports they've only become more comfortable over time, almost as if custom fit. The only note I'd make is that the yellow isn't as bright as depicted here. It's more of an old gold or tan.

I tried several different high-end shoes from Asolo, Danner and Lowa but none were as comfortable or fit as well as these. They're expensive and don't seem to be constructed as well as some of the others, with only a top metal eyelet and no leather, but I'm hoping they break in well and last long enough for me to replace the soles - which Zamberlan says is possible on these. I've got less than 100 miles on them and they already have several frayed strings that need to be cut and some odd creases in the shoes but no structural problems - so I'm hoping that's part of the breaking in process.There is no real tongue on the shoe; it's constructed more like a padded bootie so you need to loosen up several laces down in order to get your foot in. But overall I like the climbing laces. The Vibram soles are rugged and have held up well on hikes. The black color looks classy/understated enough where you could probably get away with these at a more casual wedding! For this price, I hope they last.

super grade quality, rugged, well made

These shoes are nicely made and come with a sturdy sole and will stiff enough to wear while hiking over rocks without being uncomfortable while wearing as walking shoes. I like the texture of the exterior material which is light a low suede although much less likely to get dirty.The fit on these shoes is unusual. My right foot was tight toward the toes and my left foot is either so tight that is cuts off circulation or so loose that my heel lifts. I've never experienced anything like this. I'm hoping they improve with wear.

I REALLY wanted to like and wear this shoe. It's described as having a wide last that allows toes to spread-out so I thought it just might fit my EE feet. Unfortunately, it didn't. Otherwise, I like this shoe and how it's constructed. I normally wear between a 9 1/2 and a 10 so ordered a 9 1/2, based on the recommendation to go down a half size. This length was good for me. I only took-off a star to draw attention to the width issue and alert customers that the wider last doesn't mean a wide (as in EE) last.ZAMBERLAN please offer this shoe in a "wide". Per piacere!
