Great Light!
So far this is a fantastic light. It even fits over the black trim which I was shocked by. Usually these lights are designed for rimless tanks and I have to make a bracket to use on my Marineland tanks. But not this one. It fits great and very secure. My only complaint is I wish there was more adjustability front to back. The light is about 2-3” too far forward in my opinion. I also read some reviews about longevity and I can’t speak on that yet since I’ve only had it a month, but will update if it goes out. As of 5/17/25 it’s going strong.I also have tried 4 other lights in this price range and even cheaper ones like the Imaginarium brand ones from Petco. These are also good lights. Especially for half the cost, but very little options on other lights. This one has numerous brightness settings, a couple color variations and it looks like a very high quality light!

It’s bright, grows my plants well, but timer function could be better.
I bought this 9 months ago (purchased August 2024, review written May 2025). I bought an old version of this many years ago. Old one was heavy and metal with no fan. When it stopped working that light wasn’t available anymore so I got this one. This was is much lighter, plastic and has a fan. The fan isn’t too noisy. It is plenty bright for my small aquarium. And has been working well and growing my plants. It has a timer function but it loses 7 minutes every day. So if I set it to turn on a 10:00 am and run for 10 hours. The next day it turns on at 9:53 am and the next day 9:46 am and so on. I have to reset the timer every few weeks.

Pendant Style Fish Tank Light
The subject of this review is the F20 Freshwater Pendant light. This product line comes in several form factors. It is very important that you select the right unit from the product line for your application. Lominie makes marine and reef lights in this same product line. They also make a higher wattage freshwater light. All in the same product line. Read the description of each type before you make the purchase.I needed a light for a ten gallon tank. This tank will be used to hold Frogbit and Salvinia Natans during the colder months. I keep those two species of floating plants in an outdoor patio pond for most of the year. However, they have a habit of dying off during the winter. Last year, I used a large aquarium heater to keep the patio pond warm. Obviously, my power bill took a hit. I wish to avoid that this year. I also do not want to spend the money on an expensive Kessil light. Floating plants are not demanding of light because they are on top of the water. They get the full effect of whatever light you put on top. That said, they need something better than the color-enhancing lights that are used on fish-only tanks. I have an old kessil that was used for my indoor houseplants but it has a magenta color. I do not want magenta lights in my living room. So off to Amazon I went. Searching for lights. You can find any kind of light you want on Amazon. Normally, I would buy the light bars that go across the tank. I have had units from Current USA, Fluval Aquasky, Finnex Ray 2 DS, Finnex Plant, etc. The Finnex Ray 2 DS is very powerful and not something I want shining in my living room for 8 hours. I mean, you know, I live there too. Your humble reviewer has no use for photosynthesis. Burger and fries give me all the nutrition I need. I saw this Lominie and the form factor intrigued me. I ordered it and it came two days later. This Lominie is a no-frills unit. You will not find a remote control. It does not have those features that allow you to change colors. Nor does it have thunder and storm effects. None of the light shows which you normally find in general-purpose aquarium lights. I never used those features on my Current USA and Fluval Aquasky. I am not likely to miss those features. The quality of the gooseneck mount appears to be good. It holds its shape. Although, like any metal, if you keep bending it over and over, yes, the holding power will weaken. But really, how often are you going to adjust your lights. Find the right position, set it, and then leave it alone. The light dimmer is inline, on the power cord. Assembly is easy. The light beam's angle can be adjusted with a lens swap. It comes with two lenses. The standard is 90 degrees. You can remove that and put in the 120 degrees to get more coverage. Wider angle = lower intensity. I chose to leave the 90 degree lens. The coverage is enough for a ten gallon tank. A 20 gallon tall might benefit from the wider angle lens. A 20 gallon long or 29 high will need two of these Lominie units to grow demanding plants. I adjusted the gooseneck so that the lights reach the top of the water at a slight angle. This widens the coverage. The light intensity is more than good enough for floating plants. Although the angle means the intensity gets weaker under the water. Which is great for my use. I do not want algae on the bottom of the tank. This light will work for ten gallons or less. 20 gallons and up will require a second unit. A 55 gallon will need three. The light quality is quite good. It is on the cooler side of the spectrum though. Some people prefer a warmer color. Cool or warm, it will grow plants as long as there is enough of it.Why four stars instead of five? The mounting clip could have been better designed. I have a tank with a plastic rim around it. In other words, an All-Glass 10 gallon. The clip works but not as easily as it needs to. I had to make a lot of adjustments to find the right mount. Finally, I put some cork material on the exterior of the glass before tightening the holding screw. Otherwise, the holding screw will slide on the glass. It will hold but the light can move from side to side. I do not want the beam angle to change. So, I placed a piece of cork material on the glass and it is holding okay. It looks like the mounting system was designed for a rimless tank.Anyway, this is a great light. There are no bells and whistles here. The money was spent on the light and the gooseneck. The body of the light is metal. The gooseneck is metal. There is enough light for most plants. The light was designed for desktop cube tanks. For that, there is enough light that you can even use C02.Highly recommended.

Game changer!
I was hesitant to purchase this light for our 55 gallon fresh water tank. I thought it would be too small. But it was so worth it. It was super easy to install and larger than I expected. The remote that comes with it has several different dimmer percentages for the light and a timer. From super bright at 100% to dim at 20%. The light doesn't over heat nor get super hot. My pothos plants growing out of my aquarium thrive off of the light. This light is a game changer from bar lights to overhead lights.

Delivered with the wrong parts
Screws provided were not long enough for the product provided. Specifically the thumb screws that screw into the lamp unit from the upper bracket. Provided 1/4inch screws but needed 1/2 inch to reach the metal in the lamp unit. Had to go out to the store and buy long enough screws.
