Review: The Ultimate Smart Garden Lighting - The Govee 30m (100ft) RGBIC Outdoor String Lights are a premium product that transforms any patio, fence line, or backyard space from merely lit to dynamically illuminated. This isn't just basic string lighting; it’s a robust, weather-ready smart system built for deep customization and seamless integration. Core Technology: The RGBIC Advantage The standout feature here is the RGBIC (Red-Green-Blue-Independent Chip) technology. This allows for multiple colors to be displayed on a single light string simultaneously, creating vibrant chase effects and gradient transitions that static RGB lights simply cannot replicate. Dynamic Scenes: The pre-set scenes (accessible via the Govee Home App) are stunning, from gentle flickering fireflies to complex, moving holiday patterns. This level of dynamic control gives you professional-level lighting without any complicated programming. Color Accuracy: The color rendering is brilliant and the dimming control is smooth, allowing you to easily shift from a vibrant party display to a subtle, warm-white accent light (the RGBICW models include dedicated warm white LEDs for better tones). Smart Home Integration & Connectivity For those who rely on smart home automation (like using Alexa or Google Assistant), these lights integrate flawlessly for voice control and scheduling. WiFi Reliability: Connection via the Govee Home App (using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi) is generally quick and stable, which is critical for an outdoor product you don't want to constantly reset. Extensive Coverage: The 30m length is perfect for covering large exterior areas—from wrapping a pergola to lining an entire garden perimeter—minimizing the need for multiple control boxes. Durability and Installation Govee shines in the build quality of its outdoor products, which is essential for year-round British weather. Weather Resistance: The bulbs themselves are IP65 waterproof and shatterproof (made from plastic, not glass), giving you confidence that heavy rain, frost, or accidental knocks won't cause failure. This provides true set-it-and-forget-it functionality. Physical Design: The wiring is sturdy and designed to withstand the elements. While the control box and adapter are also highly water-resistant, it is wise to place the adapter in a protected enclosure or cover it slightly, just for maximum longevity. Final Verdict The Govee 30m RGBIC String Lights are easily the best option available for smart, customisable outdoor lighting. The vibrant RGBIC effects justify the premium pricing, delivering stunning visual results that elevate the atmosphere for everything from daily use to large outdoor parties. They are durable, bright, and feature a robust app that makes managing the 16 million colors feel intuitive and fun.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many bulbs do you get in a sting ? and how bright are they**
A: 15 bulbs total. You can have them bright but they are more for ambient lighting to get the best effects out of them.

**Q: Do these fit a standard UK outdoor socket?**
A: Yes, But, the transformer is going upward not downward.
So it is a problem for my outdoor socket wall box as I cannot close the lid on it.
Otherwise UK plug yes :)

As well if you want to use chained 2 sets you can use only one plug and that nice - also change setting in the Govee app from 1 strip to 2 and you are all set !

**Q: Can you set these to come on at certain time an turn off few hours later can only see a way to come on but not turn off?**
A: It is recommend to use automation function in the app to set a time to turn on and off.

**Q: Can these but cut to a specified length, i.e instead of the full 15m can I cut them down do 12m? Can I cut where the power lead exits the previous bul**
A: The outdoor string light can't be cut.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely recommended. Fantastic lights.
*by F***. on 20 May 2025*

If you want some decent lights, then look no further. These are brilliant. Great construction, extremely easy to install on the app and also Alexa. I’ve bought a weatherproof termination box to have the plug in as it’s not weatherproof (pic included). For info; these fitted perfectly for a 3x3m pergola. I used some adhesive cable bases from Screwfix and cable ties to fix up via the cable as I found the hooks on the bulbs didn’t allow them to sit straight, but the hooks are more for when fixing onto guttering or fences. The selection choice of colours and scenes is enormous and there is the ability to set up colours, scenes and brightness in Alexa so you can ask her to change them on demand. The lights are bright enough, especially on the brightest white. The one thing I found helpful was the ability for the lights to remember their last state as I’ve got them to come on with our other outside lights. The only slight negative was the plug to first light cable length isn’t very long and I wanted the control box tucked away in the termination box, but the length wouldn’t allow that. But overall these lights are well recommended, especially whilst on offer.
