UPDATED AGAIN: Eventually had to use force to break lock. Would not open no matter what.
I haven't written a review in a while, but this is more of a caution and recommendations for the manufacturer to make to improve the lock and for prospective users to be aware of what they might be getting into. While the fingerprint lock ID is a good idea, and seems well manufactured, the way it was executed was not. First of all, I am so glad that I programmed it and tested it before trying to install it, because had I installed it first, it may have locked my drawer with no way to enter it, other than by brute force. The first thing I did was charge it fully and then program in my finger print, and a print from my other hand as a backup (in case I cut myself by accident and couldn't use that finger for a while, or something like that). Instructions were really difficult to follow, but I eventually got it to work. Suggestion 1. Since it has a USB interface, it might make sense to have some type of visual software that provisions the device and prompts the user to take each required step. So at this point, the lock seemed to work well and I was prepared to install it, but I decided to give it a few more tries first, just to be safe. After a few more lock/unlock cycles, the device completely stayed in the locked position and would not respond to anything. I plugged back in the charging cable and got no lights. I followed the reset procedure, but ultimately could not complete it because there were no lights, or any signs of life for that matter. Just a note for the user, the reset hole is closer to the knob --it took me a while to find. You have to remove the outer sleeve first, by pushing down the small mechanical bolt that is on the cylinder and then separate the pieces; then you'll see the reset hole. That brings me to suggestion 2 for the manufacturer: there needs to be a way to unlock the lock that does not rely on any of the electronics. If the electronics fail, as seems to be what probably happened in my case, then the user is locked out of their drawer and would be forced to break their drawer or maybe drill out the lock to get back in. Every product I have ever had with an electronic lock, has also had a back up key hole that was concealed and worked via completely mechanical means. My last suggestion would be to provide a few more of the spacer plates, in addition to the first one, but the others should be half as thick as the first one. There's a good chance someone is going to use this lock to replace an existing one, and if the previous lock extended further in, then the user is left to their own creativity to come up with a solution. Overall, I know the price was very good, but if it doesn't work, or can cause problems, then what good is a low price? As much as I was looking forward to this and excited about it, it didn't quite work out, so I'm forced to return it. After realizing the flaws in this concept, I wouldn't even want to opt for a replacement unless it were improved.Update to original review: I'm writing this without having even been contacted, so this is something I'm adding on my own because I want to be fair to the manufacturer of the lock. I was about to return the lock, but decided to try it once more. Suddenly it was working without any issues. I didn't install it, but tried it for 2 days and through hundreds of lock/unlock cycles. It worked flawlessly each time. My guess is that my original issue of the lock not responding probably had more to do with me not programming it correctly and inadvertently timing the lock out --kind of how if you enter your computer password incorrectly too many times, then it will prevent you from logging in for a certain amount of time, this way someone can't keep trying to guess your password. Lesson: read the instructions carefully, and take your time setting it up and installing it. So after my testing, I felt confident enough to install it and it has been working reliably since. You will need to drill a hole in your drawer, unless you're replacing an existing lock. You may also need to modify the spacing since the lock has a rather long shaft/column. If you don't, the knob may stick out a lot, which would make it easier to pry off and maybe hit with a hammer to gain access to the drawer. My suggestions from my pre-edit review still hold true: there should be software to help set the lock up/maybe keep a log of when the lock was unlocked and by which user. There should also be a way to unlock the lock should the electronics fail. An additional suggestion is that the indicator LEDS should be closer to the perimeter of the lock face, or even on the knob itself. As is, the LEDS tend to get covered by your finger when you go to unlock it, and that makes it difficult to see them. But right now, I'm happy with how the lock has been functioning and I'm going to keep it. If the company takes my suggestions, I'd love to try and updated version and provide feedback. Overall, the lock is a good concept and just could use a few improvements. It's much easier than using a key, especially if you don't always have your keys near you. I'd say if you're looking for a biometric drawer lock, then go for it, just set it up and test it thoroughly before you commit to installing it in the drawer. About the pictures, one shows the lock in the unlocked state (the red piece can be removed. It just protects the USB port) and the other shows it with the bolt out (locked state). Once it's unlocked or locked, it will stay in that state until you manually relock or unlock it.Final update: 10/5/2023. Lock stopped working completely. I kept it plugged in and it was fully charged. I had multiple fingers programmed in as back-ups. None of them have worked for the last 24 hours. Even prior to this, the lock often would take at least 10 attempts to open it. Since I couldn't get into the drawer, I ended up having to use brute force and destroy my desk and front of my drawer in the process. I am beyond annoyed at this point and I would give this product fewer than 0 stars if possible. This is by far the worst purchase I have ever made on Amazon. I've also never had to update a review this many times. I'm going to re-inforce and attempt to repair my desk as best as possible and go back to a regular key lock. This lock is absolute garbage and frustrating.

Doesn't work well
So it works but it seems like the data gets corrupted or something over a short period of time and it stops recognizing my fingerprint after just a few days. That combined with a difficult install and very limited application range makes this product inferior in my opinion to Many other counterparts in the same field.

Excellent product
This product is exactly what I was looking for. The hard part is installing it but after that works pretty flawless a very excellent value for the price. It might take two attempts to get it to read but that’s not a big deal the best part of this unit is how quite it is!
