Exactly what we needed
There are quite a lot of form factors for the idea of adding grab bars to a toilet, but this seemed the least intrusive. We have a standard size American toilet with the toilet kind of tucked away between a wall and a cabinet so there isn’t much room for the variety that stands on the floor. My only concern was how sturdy the rails would be, but they are extremely sturdy. They attach to the bowl using the same screws as attach the seat, the base of the rails sitting on the bowl under the seat mount. I actually purchased some stainless steel bolts in case the plastic type bolts that are pretty standard with American toilet seats turned out to be too flimsy seeming. I didn’t use the stainless steel bolts because the standard plastic bolts secured everything with a tight grip and no play in the attachment. We’ve found the rails very secure and helpful for accessing the toilet, without getting in the way at all. The adjustable width between the rails allowed us to customize the fit for comfortable sitting and standing up. The overall construction quality is high, and the installation took maybe ten minutes. If I needed another one, I’d buy this one again, which I guess sums things up nicely.

Great, easy and safe!
Really helpful for my parents and doesn't take any space from the floor. Easy to assemble too!

I like this toilet handrail.
I just got these bars and a seat riser installed today. I was glad to get them in and, after one use, can say that they seem really sturdy, that they do not take up any floor space, and that they look nice in my bathroom. I need a hip replacement, and it is painful to get up from the toilet. Today there was no pain getting up. The higher seat helped, but the handrail steadied me and kept me balanced. It did NOT tilt or tremble; it felt strong and load-bearing. I've seen the kind that go to the floor, and thought that would make cleaning the bathroom difficult. This kind hooks on the flat space between the tank and the toilet lid. No part of it is lower than the height of the toilet. It looks good. I worried a little because in one picture, it looked dark gray to me. NO gray--just plain old white, inobtrusive and clean. Yeah, it's had only one use, so who knows what will happen later; still, I am really glad I chose this one.

Strongly Suggest You Get This
These support handles are just what we needed. My husband just had back surgery and this allows him to get up from the toilet with less stress to his lower back. Instead of bending forward and using your legs to stand up, your arms are pushing you up. It’s easy to install when following the directions. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the individual pieces were marked wrong. See the enclosed picture, The instructions say to match 1 to 1 and 2 to 2. But when I did that it wouldn’t fit on the toilet seat. So after trial and error I figured it out. Hopefully this will help someone else if they encounter the same problem.

Good Product at a good price
User is 79, 4' 9", unstable (in more ways than one), 125-130 pounds. Her eccentric ways immediately pointed out the reality/limits of said device. It needs a cross brace across the front (like others on Amazon) to stabilize it which of course then blocks, the toilet itself. This "unit" (79 years old), decided to attempt on the first try, a "right turn clyde" lateral move instead of using both arms to stand up in line with the toilet. User error -100%. Thus the flattened steel that sits under both seats twisted outward on the "starboard" side. One would think we were splitting atoms over here but if this "unit" had simply used the arms properly and stood up in line, then everything would have been fine. So, I was surprised by the heaviness of the box it came in. I thought this was going to be some strong plastic or thin tubular steel. No sir. This product is robust and I am very pleased with that discovery. Second, (as an IT person who has done years of of tech support and writing), the labeling of the parts is excellent. Third, the manual says on the first page, give us your constructive criticism (in their own words). Humility. Fourth, the parts are labeled in a picture on the early pages of the manual. Fifth, the manual has a good sized font, is in English and is well written and organized. Sixth, in the early pages it says to go to the YouTube video about this (yes, outstanding!). Seventh, clearly, they tested their own instructions, edited them and honed them down to actual work. Eighth, you do what they tell you and in about 10-15 min, you will have it assembled and installed. Ninth, the price was right. I read the other reviews and understand the objections about stability but you need to think about how else you could do this. My view is that you would need that tubular stainless steel bolted to the floor and the back wall to have an absolute stable system and this does, to the degree possible what it can. Ceramic will crack if you put too much stress on with clamps (think tile clippers), especially given that cheaper toilets are made in china. (small "c" intentional) This "American Standard" toilet was just replaced because of a vertical tank crack that caused a leak. (only 2 years old). That's a manufacturing flaw. Just look at the sheet rock and wood flooring scandals from China. Maybe, on the flat steel sitting under the seat, a kind of "bend" could be made like the wingtips on a Boeing, so that the arm cannot splay out and would simply "catch" the inside of the bowl. (Maybe that has already been considered) Last, you might want to give thought to cheap toilets that have plastic bolts holding the seat and this brace if the user is heavy. Watch the ceramic however if you start thinking metal bolts. (Talk to a plumber) The entire purpose of this product is to keep people moving and independent because if they are not, you have to go to diapers and urine proof bed covers or bedpans. If they are not using your toilet and this product, then they're probably bedridden which is a 24/7 op. This company cannot make the product any more robust than it did and thus I recommend it for its purposes and with all mentioned caveats in mind. Well done on the thought and preparation of your product.

great help
really easy to put together and very sturdy. stays in place with no wiggle. Works great for my elderly dad who is 6’ tall and 190 pounds. Love that there are no legs to get in the way of cleaning the floor around the toilet. Not an eyesore either!

Toilet shape matters
I have been using this product for three years after three different surgeries and it is held up great on my round toilet However, on the enlongated oval toilet, the grips that sit on the toilet seat keeps slipping outward, making the handles fall down, which makes it a fall hazard for a family member with MS If you push straight up and down for bodyweight, it will work if you push out is when they slip off! We have tightened and overtighten them and still continues to happen on the elongated toilet. Not to mention if a person is big, then it’s not comfortable or wide enough to support bigger people. I may have to buy a different type for that particular toilet. As I mentioned for the round toilet, it’s been perfect for 3+ years!

Lovely and neat looking. Easy to make up and easy to remove arms if you want to. Looks a lot tidier than a free standing set and once attached to the toilet seat it is sturdy.
