OXO Good Grips Strainer - 5 Qt Capacity, Stainless Steel

Whether or not it's a good value is up to you. I don't think there are exactly a lot of colander failures happening out there even if you buy a cheap one and it's not like the OXO will drain your noodles faster. But OXO is one of those brands where I just happily pay the extra $5 or $10. Everything they make is durable, nice to use, and thoughtfully designed. This is a colander, so there's not exactly a lot to say here. One thing that slightly sets it apart from the competition is the rubber handles and feet. The feet help the colander to stay in place if you're pouring something heavy into it and are leaning onto the colander a bit. (I do worry if the rubber might degrade over time, especially if put through a dishwasher. But, I guess it would just be a regular colander at that point, not a total loss) Other than that... it uh, works. It drains things! Feels thick and sturdy! It apparently is sized to nest with other OXO colanders and mixing bowls which could be a huge bonus for some.

Bought a very nice, large colander a few years ago, but rarely used it since it was way too big for the little bit of pasta I cook. Hubby had gotten a really small plastic one, but I'm trying to get away from plastic, and it was only just big enough (for the 3.5 oz, dry, of [gluten free] sweet potatoe glass noodles - just cook them longer than they recommend if you want the regular semolina pasta texture). I got this 3 qt version, and though still generously sized, it great for the amount of spagetti I cook. The legs are sturdy, using the same material as the handles and keep the colander off the bottom of the sink while letting the water drain easily. The drain in my sink is in the middle, and the sink is not big, so I do have to carefully position the colander so it won't tip over, which is the same for most other colanders that I've used. There is a section of metal on the bottom by the sides that does not have drain holes (which, BTW, are a good size for pasta, though probably not for finer grains, where you'd probably want to use mesh anyway), but that doesn't seem to inhibit the water from draining out. Although I hand wash all my stainless steel cookware, I do put this into the dishwasher since I don't want to miss any food stuck in th drain holes. Love Oxo products, so I don't expect that to be a problem, though time will tell about the handles (though note that I don't use the dry cycle), which, BTW, keep you from needing potholders to protect your fingers from the heated metal. Cheap enough that if this lasts long enough (how long is long enough? dunno yet) it will still be worth it if I have to replace it.

Bought this to replace my old colander that developed a crack in the side after so many years of use. I wasent sure if I was going to like the metal as my old one was plastic but this is great prefect hole size rice and pasta don’t fall through. Heavy duty but not to heavy in weight I recommend it’s become a kitchen staple for my house.

I love OXO kitchen tools and this strainer is no different. It's large enough to hold several pounds of pasta or potatoes or whatever you're straining. The handles stay cool and it's easy to clean.

Sturdy, large and easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher. You must realize this is very large. It can hold a whole box of cooked pasta and have room left over.

Well built and perfect for smaller family use.

Great item to own and use daily in the kitchen. I love that the pasta doesn't go through the little holes. Super easy to clean and maintain. A bit bulky, but useful for large amounts of food.

Davvero molto utile soprattutto per il riso anche se è un pochino piccolo per la pasta se si è in tanti. Comunque lo consiglio
