Amazing
I was quite surprised when it arrived. I was expecting something kind of cheap looking, but this was professional looking! It has adjustable lens, so it blocks out everything you need it too. It changes from super light to super dark when welding, as the machine sparks. It is very protective. The fit was great. It’s adjustable and comfortable.

Wow! Much better than my old helmet, and cheaper.
The instructions are terrible. I just set the dial on the helmet to the middle, plugged in my stick welder and hoped for the best. Perfect results immediately. When not welding, the view is almost perfectly clear with almost no tint. On my old helmet, it was like looking through medium dark sunglasses before you strike an arc. My old helmet uses a battery. This one is apparently powered by the light from the weld arc. This is a very light helmet and because of that, it probably "feels" cheap. But the lightness also makes it comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The adjustable band does seem to loosen on its own over the day, but it is easily snugged back up with a twist of dial.

Great for novice welder like myself
Super easy to use and works well. I do not weld much - was nice to have something easy and safe to use for a novice like myself.

You can pay more and get less
Like one other reviewer stated...I don't know how they give you so much for $23. In retrospect though, that particular reviewer had the larger lens in that particular helmet and it was a free product vine voice review...so he was reviewing the next model up.I wish it was like the old days where you could buy just a shell...but no, you gotta get an entire helmet...so When purchasing a budget helmet, especially at this price point, I do not consider how great the helmet is...but rather how upgradable it is... let me 'splain...If you have never welded before, any helmet will do...clarity, is probably your most important thing. You are not going to know what you are missing and you can NOT base your experience off others reviews...there are so many helmets, they are like shoes...just because another newbie said they were happy with it does not mean you will be. On the other hand, If you have welded for years, you will know pretty fast if the weight, balance, and adjustments are what you are after. My whole point of saying all this is that I really like the look and balance of this helmet...but, as a former professional welder, I could never live with such a small view. No problem....the helmet receives a standard 4.5" x 5.25" filter. I can swap it with one from another helmet.Pros:*Accepts standard 4.5" x 5.25" filter*Has external Grind / shade adjustment control*The light shade of the lens is shade #3. That is huge for grinding. Many budget helmets are at #4-#5 in the resting/grinding state*Decent headgear. It's adjustments are very easy to use, and you can adjust the for/aft of the helmet at the touch of a button.*Nice balance. Easy to raise/lower and stays up on it's own with ratcheted swivels*Comes with extras. Helemt bag, spare clear lenses, spare sweat bands...*Accepts cheater magnify lensCons:*The headgear was not really "installed" it was thrown in backwards and not even tightened down.*Has a miserably small view. (i mean more like the "traditional" view so maybe i am being dramatic)*Only 2 arc sensors*No "test" buttonSummary:Overall this is most definitely worth the price. It has way more positives than the few negatives, and despite the small view, it makes up in clarity and a shade 3 resting state. I have spent more on helmets and got less IMO. At the time of this writing, the next model up looks like the same helmet with large view for only $16 more. Based on my experience with this model, I would not hesitate to recommend that model either at that price.

I wish we had cheap helmets like this when I was younger
I expected very little and was very surprised at how far helmet tech has come that you can produce this helmet this cheaply and it performs better than the mid-range ones I used in school. If you haven't welded with an auto-dimming viewer before you'll love this one. I wish the view was a little wider, but as I understand it that's where the money goes with these things now. It's a bit cheap feeling but I'd take less weight on my head so I don't need to clamp so hard before caring about what I look like in it. It would be very hard to make an expensive looking helmet as light as this one.

They try very hard but sadly it's a bit of a miss.
The good stuff.Beautifully packaged and comes with a soft protective storage bag. Quite unexpected. In addition, it comes with replacement lenses - unexpected. The screen is very large and before striking an arc, the view is beautifully bright and clear. The so-so stuff:The head band is very flimsy and is far too fiddly. 1st I thought it came mounted back to front (someone else's review claimed that) but it isn't the case. The rear adjusting band has a pivot, what for??? There is a double top of the head band, what for??? Yes, you can get it to work, and it stays up perfectly well when correctly adjusted but is unnecessarily fiddly and that pivoting rear strap is clumsy with the result that the helmet strap isn't always in the right position, ready for quick action.I am tempted to fit the strap from my old helmet. The bad stuff:I am using a MIG welder. The screen is too dark, even on the lighter setting. I was butt welding and I cannot see the join that I am welding so I easily stray off the correct path and I'm missing the joint to be welded. This is a serious bummer and that's why I only score it a 3.The manufacturers have really tried very hard to please especially considering that this is a budget priced product. Pity about the shading issue but that is a serious shortcoming.
