This is without a doubt the most insightful, Biblical, and convincing study of what God means in His Word when he talks about marriage, and divorce, and His design for it, and our obligations to Him in it. This is not just for the Biblical Student in Seminary, but for the husband, and wife that are struggling with their guilt and perhaps sin in their marriage. A must read for the serious seeker of truth about the topic. Not that this is the final word on the topic, but the reader will find in this book insightful truths about why the Word of God says what it does about marriage and divorce, and why it is so difficult to come to terms with the truth of Scripture concerning the topic.

Deep, like most of Dr. Adams works, but not so deep that you can't relate and understand. If you're able to break through the stubborn sin of pride and reach the hearts of individuals in a struggling or broken marriage, this book is sure to provide a number of tools to challenge and cause healing and growth.

Another great Counseling book to solve the marriage problems of those who are willing to listen. If you are not willing to admit that regardless of what the problem is, you are part of the problem. If you are not willing to work at it and change you, for you are the only one that you can change, then you should not waste your time reading this book. But, if you truly want to save your marriage, then you should read it.

If you need help to straighten out some of those pesky issues that drive you and your mate crazy, then this is the book for you. I took Nouthetic counseling in Dr. Adams class and he approaches issues with a language that's so easy to understand. I love the way he just simply presents his solutions. He isn't so much of a teacher, as he is a translator. He explains things in a way I could clearly understand. I didn't have to stop and think about his direction. This book was one of our textbooks. I still have it.

Jay Adams can't do anything but write the greatest, most helpful books. His wisdom and communication skills have changed many lives including mine and those of the people my husband and I have counselled for many years. This book is just another example. I bought this book because my wife and I have been separated for 3 1/2 years and not by my choice. I wanted to learn where I had failed in our marriage and if God's will for my wife to return to help me be a godly husband. I recommend this book highly!
