Shanko authentic pressed metal ceiling or wall tiles are produced using original sand-casted dies and historically-correct patterns. panels are made with 100% real metal (not faux-metal plastic), and is a green product containing 62% recycled steel. Perfect for new construction, remodeling or repairing original metal ceilings. These tile panels have the highest fire rating class, ASTM E 84-03b approved and are moisture resistant. Actual panel size: 24.5 in. by 24.5 in., each case contains five (2 ft. by 2 ft.) individual panels that cover a total of 20 square feet. Surface mounted glue-up or nail-up panels will overlap 1/4 inch for seamless installation. Color-coordinated nails are included. Sample kits available for purchase (sold separately). Metal ceilings were popular at the turn of the century because of their fire resistance, as well as resistance to mildew, moisture and vermin. Often referred to as "tin ceilings" the panels were never actually made from tin. Made in the USA. Steel panels come unfinished and need to be treated with an oil-based paint. For best results use a semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to prevent rusting or tarnishing. To leave steel panels in a natural state, use clear gloss enamel by Rust oleum.
