Vibration from chopping is no joke unless you electric, duct tape, paracord, then Wilson over grip. Then it's all good. If new to swinging short swords and long knives please respect this blade. Cheap and thin but a serious cutting blade. Not a perfect factory sharpening job, but a very good one and easy to bring to Zen. The yellow tape on haft also helps mute handle shock for me and the lanyard helps me chop accurately. Review: Quality tool - This Katana machete is impressive. I abused it horribly by cutting up a pile of dried Hardwood Thorn branches. The machete that I used to trim the green wood needed a good deal of filing when I was done. This cold steel South African blade has literally zero edge damage or loss of sharpness after chopping the same wood when dry and even harder. The fittings and handle are very solidly made. Length of blade is 12 7/8 in. Length of handle is 6 1/2 in. Blade 1/8 in thick and 1 5/8 in wide tapering to 1 1/4 in at point break. **Q: Is this full tang?** A: I looked at mine and couldn’t tell, so I went to the Cold Steel website and it states in my interpretation that it is full tang. **Q: Does this machete come with same sheath with the belt loop and the shoulder strap as shown?** A: Mine only came with a belt loop, no shoulder strap. I bought the katana and the wakizashi Cold Steel machetes, too. They only one that came with a shoulder strap was the katana. The wakizashi has a short piece of paracord in a loop under the strap that holds the machete in the sheath but no belt loop. They're all really wonderful machetes and you can always alter the sheath and add a shoulder strap or whatever suits you but, yeah, it's kind of annoying that they don't match the pic. The pictured sheath is for the katana. **Q: can the handle and guard be removed?** A: Not that I'm aware of, but I haven't tried.
