Prego Italian Tomato Pasta Sauce Flavored With Meat, 24 oz Jar

I have actually lived in Italy and experienced authentic Italian food from various regions of the country. I enjoy cooking and I have become a true fan of this sauce. It is flavorful and tastes excellent on different foods other than pasta. It is a fantastic financial buy and I add sometimes my own special ingredients to if depending upon which dishes I am using it for. The bottle is large and the sauce is thick and flavorful. Modify the amount that you use if you are concerned about the sodium content. I have purchased it several times from Amazon. I highly recommend it.

This a great meat sauce it’s very flavorful. This goes good with any pasta or to make pizza at honey.. over all this is a great home product to enjoy .

Good flavor for price but one of jars was broken when I got it so I couldn’t make as much pasta as needed that night.

We used PREGO PASTA SAUCE years ago, but for some reason (maybe it seemed too thin) became unimpressed with it. We commenced buying the Francesco Rinaldi brand until it was recently discontinued and/or unavailable in our area. Since then we have returned to PREGO as our family appreciates it's overall taste and texture - not too bitter (although I always add a pinch of sugar), and not too watery. If for some odd reason it should ever appear too thin in texture, I simply add a little squirt of tubed tomato paste to remedy the issue. Our family has always preferred a meat flavored pasta sauce, and as a rule, we always add a frugal 1/4 pound of browned ground beef to the simmering sauce in addition to fennel seed, sweet basil, and black pepper for enhanced flavor. In recent years, having perused the shelves at our local grocery stores, I was shocked to see the ridiculously high prices of some brands of pasta sauce. My budget (or general sensibility) cannot justify their cost, thus PREGO is currently the brand to beat in our home.

Jar sauce is what it is. BUT..Add a table spoon of brown sugar, and a generous sprinkle of dry Italian seasoning, and a tablespoon of parmesan cheese while warming it up.. and this sauce is AMAZING!!! I have had SOOO many people compliment my sauce in baked ziti, spaghetti sauce, Lasagna. and its thick enough to use as home made Pizza Sauce. I do ONLY USE THE sauce FLAVORED WITH MEAT to start.
