I bought this for my 14 year old daughter. She loves trying out new hair tools and experimenting with styles. When I first read the reviews about how this iron really makes the hair hold curls, I thought to my self - why? what makes it so different? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know now that it is definitely true. The curls it creates are beautiful and they stay, period. I was worried at first that because the barrel is so skinny, the curls would be tight, but that is not the case. it actually makes larger sized curls. The curls are about the size you would get if you used a 1 inch regular barrel iron. My daughter's hair looks amazing when she uses this. It seems to be well made. We have had no problems with it at all. The purple color is so pretty and the price here at Amazon was great. Definitely a wise investment. I have paid way more than this for other irons and hair tools and they did not perform as well as this Herstyler. I am very impressed with it and definitely recommend it. UPDATE 2/26/13 - I just wanted to come back and say that I am completely amazed by this curling iron! My hair is long, down to my butt and layered. It is a little on the thin side and does not hold curl well at all. With regular curling irons, even the expensive professional ones, the curl would fall out before I was even done curling all of my hair and that's with using hairspray while curling and other hot tool styling aides. I was bored and having a bad hair day, so I had my 15 year old daughter do my hair with this Herstyler last night and I was absolutely amazed at how my hair turned out. The curls all stayed and I didn't even use any extra styling products. The only thing that was in my hair was some mousse from when I blowdried my hair early in the morning. I could not believe how wonderful my hair looked. When my husband came home from work and saw me, he did a double take and said "Wow!" Even with my hair being so long, she had my whole head done in about 20 minutes. I had her do a lot of smaller sections too, so that I had a lot of volume and fullness. I was amazed at how quick it was to get done. You only leave the hair on the wand for a second or two, literally. When she first started and I noticed the hair was coming off the wand almost immediately, I asked my daughter if she was sure she was leaving it on there long enough. She said, "Yes, Mom. Trust me." Well, she was right because every single strand she did held the curl perfectly. This is sooooo much faster than using a regular curling iron. I just woke up (the next day after she did my hair) and the curls are all still PERFECT. This is unbelievable. I am going to have my daughter do my hair more often with the Herstyler lol and wish I would have tried it sooner. Absolutely wonderful product and highly recommended!

Now I'm going to preface this by saying I have never curled my hair before with a wand or a curling iron. I have always been horrible at it unless I was using one like the automatic/instyler pro by conair one. But i was DETERMINED to get this look. So i did tiny parts of hair and used the glove the entire time because I'm terrified of burning myself and wanted to get a cheaper one in case I couldn't do it and never used it again. Instead though, it was soooo easy to get used to. This was my first attempt and i loveeddd how it came out. it stayed all day. It heats up very quickly. There isn't really any temp. control, just a switch, but the heat it was at was perfect. Each section curled in just seconds. The glove was a bit loose but it worked great and i didn't burn myself once for being a beginner. My one criticism is that there is no feature that tells you its working. Like no light to show it's heating. just the on switch and then you can feel the rod to see if it's heating, but I wasn't used to that. But honestly i didn't care. it was so cute, came with a glove and nice packaging, and worked awesome for a low price. I'd definitely recommend it!

Yes, this gets freakishly hot, as people have bitched about, however it didn't damage my hair, or the other girl's hair that I used it on, who has very fragile, thin hair. this is literally the best curling wand I have ever used in my life. I wasn't sure how to use a wand correctly, so I had to look up a tutorial, cause I was used to using curling irons, however this thing works like a dream, and only takes a few seconds to make a lovely curl. It has a cool color, I got the purple. it cools down fast, and it heats up very fast. DONT CHECK IF ITS HOT, IT IS. I do agree with other customers, that I wish it had a stand, so that we could put it down to cool off, but I just put it inside my bathroom sink, or tub until it cools down, after I unplug it, but this is absolutely beautiful, and has done wonders for my hair. I'm very, very pleased with it, and the pros heavily outweigh the cons, and I am a very picky virgo, so trust my opinion. Haha.

I am not a girly girl at all. I wish I was, but I have never seen the value in investing great amounts of time in hairstyling when I could be doing more productive and pleasurable, such as sleeping later in the mornings. Usually I just wash, condition, dry, and I'm on my way, the most effort I put into my hair is pulling it up into a ponytail or making one of those nifty buns with an office pen stuck in the back, so I look studious. Lately though, I've wanted to play around with my hair more often, and was toying with the idea of a perm. My best friend/stylist suggested that I try using a curling iron first, to see if I liked the idea. I bought many standard curling irons - I have like 5 now, languishing in my junk drawer - but never had any luck. My hair would not hold a curl regardless of the amount of product I used. I finally had my friend come over and try as well, but even with her expertise and professional tools, my hair is so fine it would only limply hold curls, and looked pretty pathetic. So, I figured I'd try one last time. I spent quite a bit of time on Amazon reading reviews, watching tutorials on Youtube, etc, and finally decided on the HerStyler. My main deciding factor - I could get it in purple. I am SO glad I got it, as well! Used prime shipping, so of course it was at my door in two days. I immediately began playing with it, and was shocked when I was able to create beautiful soft tendrils WITHOUT product in my hair. And they stayed until I washed my hair the next morning. It's an awesome way for someone to quickly do their hair - I just put a few messy beachy looking curls in and call it good. It looks amazing, my hair is shinier than ever, and it barely takes any time. My only complaint about the HerStyler is the glove. It's not heat resistant at all, I found myself burning my fingers by the time I'd done about 3/4 of my head. I ended up using an Ov-Glove, and while ugly, it works much better.

I love this and had to write a review since I probably woulnd't have bought it without them. (i added a pic of how my hair turned out). I have long hair (just past the middle of my back), it's fine but there's a lot of it, and it doesn't hold curl well. The curls with this thing lasted days. I paid $41. About the unit: it is super light weight and heats up in <30 seconds. There is no indicator light. It has a swivel cord which i always like. It is 18mm tapered shaft (about the size of a dime at it's widest) and approx 8 inches long. this is the size that gives you the spirals like taylor swifts hair. the other size they have is called the 'grande' and it doesn't give the same look (but i also like it). Mine did come with a glove. The glove is probably large for most women, it fit me fine though (long hands). it may seem like a regular winter glove but it is not. while you won't be able to wrap your hand around the wand with it, it does have fibers that protect you from the burns you would receive otherwise. you'll still feel the heat though. use the glove, even if you have to restitch it to get it to fit. Usage: I found it easy and FAST. I didn't section my hair, i'm too impatient and I did random pieces rather than starting any particular place. What I recommend is starting AWAY from your face. Hold the wand a 2-3 inches from your scalp, then take a section of hair and start wrapping it around the base of the wand, going toward the narrow tip. After you wrap your hair around one time, you can pull hair a bit, like a string, to move the wand closer to your scalp (but do not rest it on your scalp). Another reason you don't need to get it too close is that as your winding you rotate your wrist (just like a regular curling iron) to curl that little section toward the base. If you have long hair like mine, might want to wrap a little loose, so you can keep schooching the hair down the shaft to fit it all. The curl takes approx 3-4 SECONDS to set, but I suppose this will vary a bit by hair type and how big the hair section is. I would say my sections were medium. As you get to the tip, you might find that your hair slips off, if this frustrates you, don't sweat it, once you've finished your hair you can go back and wind the very tips of your hair along the wand. Plenty of video demos on youtube of this type of styler. my whole head took me about 20 minutes, my arm didn't get tired because it was so light, and it was actually fun! i would definitely unplug this when done due to the lack of indicator light. watch getting knock off brands that don't heat up as well. i would definitely recommend this product!

Best curling iron ever ! Just be careful not to touch the wand with out the glove !

I purchased this item for my daughter after her persisting on having one. We have gone to the mall several times and watched them curl my daughters hair. The price that they wanted at the mall was a ridiculous amount of $165.00. Had I paid that much, I would have been very disappointed. At the price I paid here, I think that the product does curl really well. My issue is that it gets extremely hot and is difficult to handle on your own. My daughter and myself have both burned ourselves badly doing it alone and my daughter has also burned others while trying to curl their hair. My suggestion would be not to purchase this for anyone under the age of 18 and try to have someone else do it for you. Also you must where the glove that is provided and I would recommend one for the other hand.

Okay Ill start off by saying first When you buy this do not expect it to look like the picture. The barrel is black and the handle is pink so don't get your hopes up on that one. Besides that the thing works great! It heats up really fast and curls within seconds of touching your hair. I know you guys aren't buying this thing because you thought the whole thing was pink because then you wasted your money but if not you made the right purchase! This thing is really a magic wand that curls your hair within seconds! I love it and it is perfect for my short hair I am growing out! I love it and I could not be more happier! I just got it today and I curled my hair as soon as I got it and I love the results! Buy it and you wont be disappointed! good luck! Also it comes with a glove! don't burn yourself because it gets super hot!
