I liked that this filter was adjustable - The part that goes into the water that suctions the water up can either be shorter or taller. For our 10 gallon tank, we used the shorter one. The filter power is adjustable as well. We just have a beta in there so we keep it on low, seems too powerful in the higher settings. I'd say for being on the cheaper side, it was a good value for our money. Its as quiet as a filter can be i guess lol

It took me less than five minutes to set up about the easiest filter I ever set up. It was ridiculous. If you think about buying it, I’d buy it if I were you it’s a good product. It’s working on my tank just fine. I got a 50 gallon tank and man. Is it doing a good job and did I say it was easier to set up? it was easier than you think.

Very quiet and works really well. I use the foam inserts and rings instead of insert that comes with it but I have used it in the past and it works really well.

My tank is taller than an average 40 gallon tank so this just barely works for my fish tank struggled to get it together and working, but I’ve had no issues since installing. It works pretty well so far.

I bought two of these filters despite a couple negative comments. I've had aquariums for 40 years with many different filters. I currently have a 5, 10, 20, 30, 55 and a 120 for tanks. The 10 gallon tank houses 2 Betta fish with a tank divider. One Betta lives with 2 cherry shrimp but the other is too aggressive to add tankmates. I run a filter on each side. Finding a filter that didn't blow the fish across the tank has been difficult. I've tried a few small ones but they failed to keep the tank clean and the filter cartridges were only an inch wide. I decided to take a chance and I haven't been disappointed. Granted, it's only been a few days. The adjustable water flow is perfect for the Bettas and shrimp. As you can see in one of the pictures, one shrimp likes to sit inside the spillway and obviously not a strong current coming out of the filter. The tank cleaned up beautifully in 24 hours. I did put the inch wide filter cartridge from the old filter into the new filter along with the new filter cartridge for the beneficial bacteria. The Tetra filter is super quiet, appears to be easy to clean and intake strainer is small enough not to suck up the shrimp. The other issue I've had with other filters is failure to prime when our electricity blinks which happens a lot in our town. The Tetra is self-priming so I no longer have to worry. I like that it also has a bio-scrubber (the green basket that cultivates beneficial bacteria). I certainly will update if there are any problems. UPDATE: 16 days...The filters are keeping the tanks clean and the self priming has been wonderful during the last power flickering. The only problem I had is the filters are just a bit too wide for my glass top to sit as far back as it needs to go. Using a pair of snips, I put a small notch into each side of the filter now allowing my glass top to slide into place.

I’ve bought this for three different ten gallon tanks. The oldest one of these is two years old- hasn’t broke or bent or anything. Unlike your average PetSmart filter these won’t suck fish in - or at least they haven’t yet for me. These are easy to take apart for yearly cleaning too because all the tubes can be disconnected. These filters also have a super convent little notch you can use to adjust the flow rate. They are also super quiet which is amazing because I keep tanks in the room I sleep in. They start up easily after being plugged in, even if they’re bone dry out of the package. Would recommend them to anyone.

Received and put product in 3 business days ago and reached out to the manufacturer on the same day because I find the unit kinda noisy. In fairness one day was a holiday and they may have been closed. I haven’t received a response yet. Product works well but is louder than expected. I should add I’ve been an aquarium enthusiast for over forty years and find it to be noisier than ones I have had over past years. I bought due to the good reviews about it. Needed a filter with a low flow option. I’ve seen videos in other reviews and I don’t seem to hear the same noise in those. I did see some reviews in which others stated they thought the unit was noisier than expected but no video. I wish there was a video on the actual items post. I’m on the fence about what to do. It does clean the tank quickly and well. I’m just not sure I’m a fan on the loud hum. It’s fairly distracting.

Product appears to be working. However, when it was unpacked from the box, the part where the motor lies was/is very loose and looks like it could come apart if not very careful.

Best filter I have bought in decades, provided it endures. The flow control was tricky, the difference between trickle and waterfall is a tiny move of the dial, but just having flow control is the main point. It's VERY quiet. I hear the trickle of water, not the filter. The filters themselves are sold as kits you can make for very cheap. The flow control/suction goes pretty fast, i suspect you could use this for a 50G freshwater tank in a pinch.
