Very Functional
And for me, oddly, it actually fits the Tweezerman brush around the handle as it should.Well, ok, here's the guts. Look at the picture. See how skinny the column of the stand is? Well, it is skinny-- but that doesn't stop it from being very functional. Fits nicely inside my stainless shaving bowl (the base does) when I'm storing it, and it holds my Futur razor (it's heavy) and my brush easily, so far, never with any threat of tipping. So why 4 stars? Well, I'm just not "wowed" by it. For the price, it's great-- it does what I need it to do, and so far (about a month in), no corrosion or other appearance issues. It's really more the diminutive nature of the stand-- and yes, I knew that's what it was when I purchased it, so it's not really a dissatisfaction, but more of a "if I'm going to spend this amount of money, this thing's gonna have to be INCREDIBLE to get 5 stars". Incredible, no. Very satisfactory, YES.

Don't be fooled by cheap models
This is a REAL stainless steel stand. It will take a magnet when most stainless steel will not, but it's the real McCoy. Don't waste your money buying cheap chrome models that will just start to flake in 4-6 months, buy stainless and rest easy knowing you wont need to buy another for a long time.It holds my Merkur razor perfect and etching on the stand matches the razor like they were made for each other. The weight is nice, not too heavy to be a nuiscance on your vanity but heavy enough to not knock about when hanging your shave tools. I have the cheap Escali badger brush that has really surprised me at how well it's holding up and I credit that to this stand hanging it upside down to prevent water from soaking down and standing to the bottom of the knot. I can't say enough how happy I am with this purchase and how much I would recommend buying stainless and avoiding chrome models. I hope my review helps you.

Good price, a few tweaks and it'd be perfect
So this stand was my first stand, I was a little hesitant to purchase one as I didn't have the rest of my shaving kit built yet so I wanted to make sure that it would all fit together. I have a Tweezerman Shaving Brush and a Lord Safety Razor and this stand works great for both. The brush can be held at the base of the wood or base of the bristles. My razor sits well too. I travel often as well and the 3 piece design allows me to put it in my small travel bag easily. My one gripe is that the holder section becomes loose easily and so the brush/razor rotates around the base and teeter toter because of it. Nothing too big, just a little annoyance.

It's certainly a metal stand
The component pieces of the stand are sturdy enough, but I'm not 100% positive the entire thing is "stainless" steel. The base has rust spots forming under where my shaving brush hangs. Also, the base, vertical component, and hooks seem to always need tightening, though the swiveling may be by design.Overall, it's a decent piece and it certainly holds up my razor and brush.I would have given it 5 stars, but again the rust spots.Update Summer 2011:The stand is holding together nicely, and the rust on the base hasn't grown much worse. So points awarded for durability, points deducted for cosmetic. I think the terms "deluxe" and "stainless" are ultimately optimistic marketing, but "Stand" it does.

Great price for a good stand.
The picture looks somewhat bronze, but the stand is in fact chrome. It's heavy enough to stand up to daily use and holds the razor fine, but as noted in other reviews the brush may not hang properly.Solution: I've carved shallow notches into my Tweezerman brush handle so that it now slides on & off of the stand as if it were a matched set! Nice Stand. Fits my AOS brushes nicely
This is a nicely styled stand. It has some actual curves and style, not just a hardware store acorn nut on top. It has a nice polish, the billet construction is apparent. It is rather tall, taller than my Gillette Super 109, but it hangs well. It has a wider base than some others but feels lighter. It fits both my AOS brushes by the handle end, not the knot as if they were made for it. I have a pure badger faux ivory and a fine badger black, both with slightly different handle ends and they all hang nicely. I also have a Parker 42M Mach3 compatible and it does not hang at all but it has its own stand and I just added that in case someone was looking to use this stand for a mach3 compatible. I recommend this stand. Pros; Stainless steel, not plated brass. Price. Fit and style. Cons; Objective, Tall, light base.

Solid for the Most Part
Pros - solid metal turned base has a good bit of weight to it. Heavy knurling on the pole makes for a good grip, perhaps too good when you read more...Cons - stripped one end of the pole inserting it to the base but inverted it and it works. Gotta blame that one on the gorilla putting it together... ;). As I've read in previous posts the VDH brush doesn't fit the slot on the top...even at the knot. When dry, the brush can be leaned against the cap screw on top through the top slot but when wet it will topple over.
