Excellent reading material.
Book was listed well. Arrived in good time. Was glad it was wrapped in a flexible cardboard. It needed to fold a little bit to get into and out of the mail box.

not your usual home health manual
Having met two of the authors of this book in person and heard them speak more than once I can say with confidence they know what they are talking about, they practice what they preach and have years and years of healed and whole clients to back them up. When I first encountered this book I was not ready mentally to delve into this side of the healing arts - literally poo-poohing it out loud to others in hearing range - but a few years later, after having taken the plunge and eliminated processed foods, learning to ferment and culture, seeking local farm sources for our food - I was finally ready to read the book. THankfully my family has only had need to practice the advice from the chapter on infectious diseases to help manage a touch of the flu or bad cold, but it works every time! The advice on movement and meditation are just as vital and important as the ones on medication and nutrition. Using this will help you opt out from the conventional medicine paradigm and take back your health in a Big Pharm-free way!

Redefines holistic medicine -- an instant classic!
This is a beautifully written book that manages to be both a crystal clear health practitioner's guide and a fascinating philosophical discussion of the nature of disease and health. The Fourfold Path to Healing offers a variety of very specific ways to restore balance to the human body, all of which are gentle, non-invasive, and sensible.Four introductory chapters discuss the "paths" of the title -- nutrition, therapeutics (herbs and whole-food supplements), movement and meditation. Then Dr. Cowan applies these foundational principles to a variety of conditions, from arthritis to cancer to weight loss to heart disease. He invites us to look at health conditions as more than collections of symptoms. He does so skillfully, drawing on the language of myth as well as botany, dreams, the work of Rudolf Steiner, and other insightful metaphors. Each discussion guides the reader into a broader understanding of the ways in which our health reflects our world view, our mental and emotional balance, and, of course how we care for our physical bodies. The Fourfold Path to Healing invites deeper participation in our healing -- and in the maintenance and care of our good health, as well.

This is one of the best books on healing I've ever read. He explains WHY!
This is one of the best books on healing I've ever read. The concepts explained are novel - the heart is not a pump - but the explanations are so thorough and well written that you will agree with them.Even if you have not been diagnosed with any of the ailments covered by the book - cancer, heart disease, HBP, chronic fatigue, etc... - you can make lifestyle changes to prevent them. We are following his suggestions. So many books just tell you what to do - this book tells you why! It's so much easier to make changes if you understand WHY they're necessary.

The Heart is Not a Pump!! Worth the Price for this Chapter Alone!!
If you follow the teachings of Weston A. Price, you will want this book. It's medical information is inovative and different; it's also ancient and user friendly. We look for natural healing medical information, and this book fits the bill. The book covers many health conditions. I bought it for the chapter on the heart, which was worth the price of the book on its own. Dr. Cowan's writing on "The heart is not a pump" is thrilling to read!! Lots of helpful incites. I will keep studying this book.

The Heart Is Not a Pump... It's a?
Very intriguing approach to health, healing, & what things make a difference. I bought it specifically to read the information on "Our hearts are not pumps." They're regulators. What he says about why our blood circulates makes a lot of sense. He credits the work of Rudolph Steiner.I will continue to explore what significance that theory has for improving health and healing if correct. The chapter on the heart is worth the price of the book. Enjoy.

This book makes sense.
It takes the facts and makes it understandable. The US government has been supporting bad advice and then reaping the benefits of elevated insurance rates and increased medication prescriptions to fix the problems created by the advice and "guidelines" given to the American public about their diet recommendations. The internet is very available right now and people need to find the truth; dig deeper than the first layer of lies. That's why I ordered the book. I didn't want someone lying to me and telling me what they thought I wanted to hear. I'm looking for truth. And this book makes sense to me.

Gives different way of healing. Movement therapy is something new to us. People should get to know about this therapy and make use of it.

A great source of information for very basic food preparation.
Anyone interested in preparing food to get the most healthy benefits that our body can utilize, needs this source of information. This book also gives you alternative methods of healing. I find that I continually use this book as a resource for how to make yogurt, kefir and many other healthy foods that can be made at home.
