Very pleased with this and excellent value. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is however, if you haven't used one before then take the time to practice on some scrap. A metal straight edge for straight cuts I found to be essential. If cutting shapes then you need a very steady hand and go slowly. Clean the rod with a dry cloth; with the power ON, so that residue does not cool and harden. Again, take it slow whilst cutting. Complaint - the power cable is too short but otherwise very happy.

Worked fantastic…. But only once. Got it out again today and nothing. As it was past the return window we tested it with the multi meter. As the power supply was fine, we took the wand to bits… a loose wire and it’s working again 😀

I saw lots of negative reviews so thought it only fair I share the positive. I brought this one (even with negative views) as I wanted something reasonably priced, which it is. I used it for many hours the day after I brought it, and did exactly what it’s meant to. Cuts really well! Glides through the poly board I was using like butter! It’s light, easily handled, ok quality, but then that’s the price you pay. My only downside to it, is the lead is really short and could do with being a lot longer, that’s why I’ve given 4 stars. For the price I’d say it’s worth it. May not last long but it’s a chance I’m happy to take for the price.

I read a lot of reviews about this foam cutter before purchasing and they were mixed at best. Complaints about bending wands, overheating transformers, stopping working within the first couple of hours of use, etc. etc. However, I would have to say mine is fantastic. It heats up instantly, I’ve used it intently for over a month cutting to size several sheets of 75mm & 50mm thick polystyrene to insulate my shed. It takes patience when cutting the thick stuff, but there’s no mess like there was when I used a saw to cut them. I couldn’t be more pleased - great buy.

Absolutely brilliant, wire is abit short once I extended was so much easier to use to cut huge 2 inch thick boards worked perfectly 👌

This worked perfectly, reading the reviews before purchase was helpful. Definitely go slow when cutting. The polystyrene I was cutting was an inch thick and the tool had no problems at all. The tool heats up fast and I also found it to cool down quickly once switched off. Hope this helps others.

On opening found the cutter to be bent with some foam burnt on to it, so clearly not a new item. The fact that the cutter has been bent so badly shows use of low quality materials. Didn't get hot enough to cut through 25mm craft foam, just started to melt it then got stuck. Power cable not as long as advertised either.
