Update again: I ordered a few more of these as gifts, however one of them is super slow and I have had nothing but problems with them...and they are more expensive. update: I went to reorder the OttBox, however they sent me this box instead, they literally work the same. I had to uninstall Kodi and then reinstall it but that is fine. The product is still the same. I tried a few different boxes and this one is the best. The remote is easy to use, the set up is very easy to use I love the display on the front to tell time. I have Kodi on this box and as long as you have good internet service this box is amazing. Other boxes I have tried buffer to much even with the best of internet. This ones doesn't buffer and is easy to set up. I will be buying more and programing them for family members and other parts of our home.

Died after 90 days, and in "My Orders" it said the return window was closed after 30 days. The 2-Year "guarantee" from the manufacturer is a sham -The phone # on the BOMIX U.S. website goes to a dead voicemail box, and the "email us" form built into their site is fake - if you check the page code it is not sending anything to anyone. Even when the device worked it was often slow & the included remote is such a pain to use that I ordered a Bluetooth remote with a keyboard (came with a Bluetooth dongle that plugged into one of the device's sub slots - that was a great improvement. I have some experience with PC-board electronics so I took a look inside to see if there was an obvious problem (bad solder joint, fried mosfet in the power circuits...) that I might fix myself, but no dice - this thing was designed for cheap & easy manufacture, not for quality or serviceability.After stewing a while about my inability to contact the manufacturer (I now believe BOMIX is just a marketing group with a stencil - this exact device is mass-manufactured in China and available from dozens of sellers who apparently just silk-screen their logo and repackage it in their own box to sell it as their product.) Anyway, I contacted the store who sold it via Amazon with my story and they promised a full refund, I just had to call the returns department. When I dialed the number they gave me it was an Amazon Customer Support boiler-room in India. The gentleman who handled my call found my account right off, but he could not find the actual order for over 20 minutes. I knew the order was there because I was looking at it on Amazon's website as we spoke. Eventually he did find it, and, to my surprise and delight he agreed to issue a full refund to my debit card without even requiring me to return the bad unit!So, assuming the refund does get approved, I will be ordering a newer model tv-box made by someone else. When they work these things are great - theyve let me completely cut the cord from Cable/Sattelite providers, reducing my monthly tv-related cost from +/- $140 to +/-$40, and I still get to watch everything I want.

I received the first one 4 months ago and LOVED it!!! I ordered a new one for my parents, who left for Arizona today and will not be able to set this up on their own (they have enough trouble launching Netflix) so I ordered a 2nd one almost a week ago, when I received it I noticed the package had been opened (the seal was turned 180 degrees from bottom to top). I also noticed the bottom showed 2gb ram 8gb rom under the model number. I powered on the TV BOX and splash screen that should show s912 shows s905 quad core. I verified in the settings menu that there is only 8gb of storage.I contacted support and they shipped out a replacement. I received it today and again the seal was broken... the sticker on the bottom again showed 2gb ram 8gb rom, I powered it up and again the splash screen shows s905 not s912, and in the settings menu it shows 8gb of storage.please check your device to verify it is actually an S912 octa (8) core and 16gb of storage that you paid for, the s905 2/8gb version is about half the price of this device!

An excellent choice for anyone looking for a media streamer and player. The ease of use and setup was far better than the Nvidia Shield TV, which has no native apps that will index hundreds of movies on a USB external portable hard drive. The Ottbox did it easily and without the need to download third party apps to perform such indexing. Add to this the fact that the Ottbox is less than half the cost of the Nvidia Shield, and the choice should be a no-brainer. Even after buying a separate game controller (one is included with the Shield), the total is still a great deal less than the Nvidia.The 3 star rating is not with the product, but with my irritation with the seller (Youshi). Within ten minutes of placing my order I realized that I had meant to purchase the OttboxZ with 3GB ram instead of the 2GB included in the unit that I bought. I checked Youshi's billing and shipping info, and the Ottbox had not yet been set for shipping. I tried contacting Amazon, but they informed me that I had to deal solely with the seller. I immediately sent an email to Youshi requesting the other unit, but I have never heard back from them, and received the original Ottbox with 2 GB Ram. I will think twice before ordering another item that is sold by Youshi and fulfilled by Amazon.

So far so good with this little box. I'm replacing a PC based Kodi box with this. I plugged in the USB-IR adapter from a generic windows media center remote (about $15 from Amazon also, reusing from the pc), and it immediately started working. Because of that, I can hide this behind a cabinet, with the IR exposed. Since the remote has a mouse-pad, it really opens up using Android apps, as if I have a 75" Tablet. It is working so well for me, giving me much more than just Kodi, since I'm tapping into the google ecosystem for Music, apps, games, etc..It looks like Kodi is running in 1920x1080, so I'm not sure if Kodi will be able to do 4k. I'm doing 4k Youtube on it, and the native resolution is 4k, so I'm hopeful.

Box works ok but just like with the other one I tried, really bad WiFi reception, basically unstable unless it's next to the router. Works well over ethernet, but not over WiFi.
