The are a good size and fresher than others, which makes seeding and stemming them easier. Other brands are so dry (stale) that you lose half the chile trying to separate the seeds and stems from the chile. The taste is also much richer and fresher due to the quality. Also, these are available in a 1lb bag for a much better price. Despite the chiles being softer and easier to work with, I was still able to grind them to make my own ancho powder for other uses.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Make restaurant style red hot sauce

I was buying these locally until the store stopped carrying them. So I bought an unknown variety of dried peppers in the 'Mexican food department' and they had a weird bitter taste. These Ancho Chiles are waaayy better than the others I was getting, more of that yummy rich flavor and a little more heat! They are not completely dried out so there is more flavor. I'm not sure that I can blend them into a dry powder in my nutribullet because of the moisture (maybe I'll take a few out to dry). But they make a fantastic hot sauce - take off the stem and pop it in your blender with a can of stewed tomatoes, salt and garlic, garnish with cilantro. These were delivered a day early, and the price was reasonable.
