BLACK DIAMOND Storm 500-R Headlamp, Rechargeable, Dimmable, Bright, Black

I'm very pleased with this light. It provides a number of useful options for lighting from spotlight to wide light, bright and dim and adjustable in between. There are two buttons which select between lighting modes...long press and short presses provide the modes. I only have two complaints...it does not tilt downward very far. This is somewhat made up for using the wide area mode but not useful when trying to use the spotlight. My other complaint is the 2nd press button...the smaller and slightly recessed button next to the larger more tactile primary button. It's difficult to tell when I have my finger on the smaller recessed button and often find I take the headlamp off to look at where the button is to be sure I know where to find it. Overall, it's a great quality headlamp and would certainly recommend. I love the USB rechargeable feature and overall value of this light with the features it has.

I'm wondering how I ever got along without it!! It's great to have access to a bright, long-lasting, hands-free, light source when playing motorcycle mechanic in my poorly lit garage. I charged it when it arrived and haven't had to charge it since despite using it fairly frequently over the last few weeks. I have not measured the actual time of use, but it seems to hold a charge for a good long while. The light level adjustability just works and I love that it can be locked in the power off position to prevent accidentally turning it on while in your bag. I also love being able to wave my hand on the side of the unit for instant max brightness. It is light weight enough to be hardly noticeable on my head. Buttons are fairly intuitive and the unit appears to be very well constructed. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Exclusively used this light for 2 years now and it’s the best light I’ve ever purchased. I work a lot of nights and the battery on this thing is unbeatable. Super bright, not too clunky and it being rechargeable is game changing. Will definitely buy another one when/if this one dies

The only headlamp I would buy again. l’ve had many different ones over the years. Great light so many features. Easy to turn on the high beam with a touch on the side of the lamp even with gloves on. Long lasting battery. I use it every night to do animal chores.

Oddly their doesn't seem to be any difference from this and 400 Spot-R, and I'm constantly having to turn the light back up to wide open, even having to turn my hat around on backwards so I can keep the lamp perfectly adjusted so it's bright enough to see what I'm doing. When your wiring up double or triple contactors that are two phase or three phase contactors in a dark hangar because you have the power off, it's annoying to have to constantly keep turning the light back up, I don't remember the 400 Spot-R being this annoying. This would probably be an excellent headlamp for most people but I'm wanting constant 500 lumens not whenever I feel like it 500 lumens, so I'll be buying the Fenix HM65R-T or maybe even one of the rescue models so when I'm in a building where it's 60ft to the ceiling I can light up like New York stadium and explain something to a boss or coworker without them saying they can't see or understand what I'm wanting to do or some other issue. The light would be plenty bright if it would just stay on, but it keeps dimming itself down to a lower setting and the battery is always practically full. Love the strobe setting, makes coworker's reflective shirts light up perfectly during parking airplane's. Buy the floodlight mode by itself was barely bright enough to rebuild three ratchets the other night at my kitchen table. Was trying to use some of the light's other modes and functions and honestly just feeling a little bit let down. I want more performance for basically 100 bucks. If you have not much experience using headlamps you might be estatic with this one, but I've been using different brands for year's now and I just want better. Camping and walking trails at the lake, sure! Industrial maintenance and aviation lineman, nope. Buy something else.

Bulkiet than a PETZL but incredibly bright. It uses the same charger as my phone so it's quick to plug in to my 12v in the truck on my way out to the woods. Fits nicely in a haversack without being too bully. Headband could be a little wider but doesn't effect the function. Highly recommend.

Great lamp. Lightweight and comfortable. Good battery life.

These work very well when they works. They have great battery life and brightness. I've had two and both quickly developed electrical issues after occasional use over a few months. One would not turn off and randomly switched between the color modes, and the other works but the brightness settings changed randomly as I use it (not change in color fortunately). They are great while they last.

I was super happy with this unit but just over a year down the line it seems to have an internal controls issue which is very disappointing based on the brand expectations. Not sure if I would buy this product again. Not a trusted brand in my books anymore
