Can you use Command strips to hang?

I would not recommend this product. The cover easily falls off whenever you open it to reset the temp, and is easy to pull off by someone who doesn’t have the combination for the lock. We wish we had not bought it and hung it with anything, whether screws or command strips!

Does it install over the thermostat or do you install this first?

You install over the thermostat

Can you stick something inside and reach control or is it tamper proof?

It isn’t tamper proof. If you cover a thermostat it must “breath” so there are vents. It’s possible for someone to tamper if they have the right tools. We like to say, “the StatGuardPlus is like a fence… it makes a good neighbor.” I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions.
