It is probably a time for new filter media since so much progress has been made in the science.Hard to really compare activated charcoal and those crystals without a proper equipment but the work. Better or not is hard to tell.However, filter case is a different story. Traditional filter is made out of paper with ceramic caps. And there is a reason for that. Paper absorbs the moisture. Ceramics can withstand the heat if you smoking hot.In this case they likely decided to make it translucent so you can see the inside which means, no absorption. Plastic yet to be seen how it will hold the heat. I try to keep my pipe cool bit stuff happens sometimes and I don’t want to inhale fumes from melting plastic.Conical shape has zero effect since there is no universal standard on tolerance for the interior diameter. I have pipes that this filter will fit tightly and some where it will be loose.Last point on the illustration after one smoke, two etc. Well, ideally you change filter every time you smoke. However, I tried to use twice and the second time smoke barely can get through. I assume the same will happen on a first smoke of a pipe with very deep bowl.Bottom line for the manufacturer- if crystals are as good as you say, lose the plastic and other gimmicks. Fill the traditional filter with your media and that’s all we need. Print a picture on it if you like.No, I don’t recommend it. Will be giving remaining 9 small boxes to friends to try since I am not planning to use all 100.

They definitely pull tar and muck out of the smoke, but to get them to fit and flow properly each one has to be modified. Trim ⅔ of the blue insert in to fit into the pipe, then use a very small drill bit or large safety pin to add extra holes in the blue insert to get proper flow.

1 pipeload and they are full, they also draw hard, but they seem to do a good job filtering and fit well with the tapered tube.

These filters fit and work extremely well. Problem is that they filter so well that you will need to use 2 a day because they clog easily and increase the draw after just a couple of pipe fulls

Use to the regular paper and carbon filters. These filters take a lot of draw, you gotta really suck to get your pipe lit and kept going. It really SUCKS

Work but maybe two smokes don't last long but work very well.

These filters are hard to draw through and a touch too big to fit in my pipes at least. Once in the pipe they do a good job.

Dont last as long as the paper ones do but they work great.Need to replace after 6 to 10 smoking sessions
