The Tarot of the Bohemians: Celebration Edition Paperback – December 5, 2011

I purchased this on a referral by a friend, love the antique, vintage aged look and the information. Arrived quickly, in decent shape. Still working on reading it all the way to the end.

This is like a companion to Mouni Sadhu's The Tarot. Both feed on one another a give a good explanation (that does not differ book to book) about the Tarot. I think Papus is the earlier of the two.

Papus, one of the 'papas' of the Western mystery tradition. He lays the groundwork here for the French school. It's not easy to follow his thinking all the way. His Roman Catholic/Hermetic ideas on the Major Trumps are excellent. His treatment of the minors is hard to follow.His system is based on the Tetragrammaton and the Thesis/Antithesis/Synthesis/'Gestation' way of thinking, which he links to the suits/seasons, etc. It presents an excellent fundamental way of thinking about the Tarot. His ideas about the origins of the Tarot could be correct, too. It makes a great story, either way.

This dude is WAY out there, but it's a fascinating and influential interpretation of the cards.

Every initiated will find a new prospective to view the future. This book will answer many questions, and shed light on many topics.

Sections of this were somewhat obtuse, yet I still gave it a great rating because the parts which coalesced did it with a rare insight. Primarily for those who are fascinated by tarot cards.

Non mi è al momento dato sapere se esista della volontarietà in questa modalità comunicativa, e se anch'essa sia volta a provocare la curiosità e stimolare il discernimento. Non avendone certezza e invece dubitandone, tolgo una stella dalla valutazione complessiva.Di positivo, comunque, c'è tutto il resto.I contenuti sono molti e abbracciano una vasta area, dagli arcani maggiori a quelli minori, i simbolismi che essi contengono e le relazioni fra gli uni e gli altri.Naturalmente l'analisi più approfondita verte sugli Arcani Maggiori, che sono sviscerati con buon dettaglio sia nel significato proprio, sia nel legame che ognuno di essi ha con gli altri.Completa il libro una sezione sulla divinazione che lo stesso Papus ritiene principalmente un divertissement, ma con onestà intellettuale ritiene che sia - come tutti i giochi - un buon metodo di apprendimento.
