Pure Hazelnut Flavor Extract for Baking - 4 Fl Oz - Native Vanilla

I bought this to make my own sugar free Hazelnut coffee syrup. I prefer the simpler ingredients of coffee syrup rather than flavored non-dairy creamer, since I prefer normal half and half anyway. I successfully made sugar free hazelnut coffee syrup with this extract and it was such a treat to have hazelnut flavored coffee again. (I prefer to grind my own beans and as flavored coffee is normally preground I haven't gotten to have hazelnut flavored coffee in awhile.) I've also added it straight to coffee and then added sucralose and half and half and it still works that way too. In short, lovely hazelnut flavor and it did precisely what I hoped it would do for my coffee. I'm a baker too so I may also add this extract to desserts I'm experimenting with.

We’re about to order our second bottle of this extract that we use for our coffee creamer. Reading the reviews that people complain it tastes to much like alcohol, we had this problem too at first. Now when we make sure when we make a batch of creamer we heat it to 185 degrees ish as the boiling point of alcohol is 173.1. This helps cook off the alcohol and leaves a nice hazelnut taste. I don’t let it go any higher so the milk doesn’t boil. I just wanted to share for those that are struggling with it. Enjoy!

While there is hazelnut flavor to this, there's also a scorched flavor that ruins it. It's as if the extract was made from hazelnuts that got charred while being dried or toasted. I'm going back to Flavorganics brand hazelnut extract, which is more expensive, but SO much better-tasting.

It would be better if some sort of dosage scale were provided.
