I have found I can cut about 18" before I notice any loss of sharpness. This being a snap knife, I can snap off the blade and keep going, and replacement packs are currently $9.02 per 10 pack, making each segment 13¢ each. At this price, I will never have to suffer a dulling blade again. Good quality X-acto style blades run around $1.00 each. I couldn't find olfa blades and bought a brand that looks exactly like Olfa. What a mistake!
