5x5 SandLock Plastic Sandbox for Kids Outdoor Play. w/ Cover, Ground Barrier, 2 Corner Seats

One of the best purchases we have ever made. Unmatched customer service!!! This sandbox is flawless. Sturdy, well made, super easy and quick assembly, genius seats, great size. We ordered this for our son's construction birthday party (in our shop in an Illinois February). It was a hit! We received so many compliments on it. Most importantly!, the gentlemen I spoke with when I called the company (Terry) was incredible. I was concerned about receiving it on time but trying to avoid paying for shipping, which I would have had to do if I had ordered it directly from the company. I was willing to do this in order to get it on time. He was actually honest and kind enough to tell me that I should go ahead and order it through Amazon to get it cheaper and get the free shipping. And!, watched for the order to come through so that he could make sure it shipped on time. And!, he included the extra support straps for free! He was so kind and easy to talk to. We will refer friends to them forever. We will also be more than happy to add the other section to make it larger one day. Our son has used it in the shop all winter. Getting ready to disassemble it to move it outside until winter. We're not dreading it because we know it is a breeze to assemble. We purchased the incredible white play sand instead of regular sand...worth every penny.

Only a child's desire for a sandbox would equate to a two week research project on the best non-DYI sandbox available. In the end, a sandbox good enough for his daycare's playground needs is good enough for the boy. This is an expensive, but solidly constructed sandbox. No worries about rotting wood, splinters, weatherproofing wood with chemicals, or cutting off digits with the miter saw. Very easy to assemble. The 5x5 took 16 bags of 50lb playground sand. That will be an absolute joy to remove in about four years when the tyke is bored stiff of sand play. The sandbox comes with a ground barrier. However, for an extra barrier, I laid cardboard down first and then the plastic barrier. The seats are nice and even holds an adult tasked with using a dump truck or filling a bucket, per your child’s orders. Thus far, the cover has held up through the summer heat and sprinkler barrages. The cover has elastic bands that nicely secure to the bottom corners. Very easy to take off and replace the cover. The cover also has vents, which is a thoughtful addition. My concern is a long, Michigan winter. The company suggests using an inflated exercise ball to prop up the cover to allow water to run-off instead of pooling. For the time being, I have been situating the removable bench seats to prop up the cover a bit. Not quite sure an exercise ball (or any inflated ball) would make it through a winter without deflating. This may be fine for southern and western climates, but probably isn’t very useful up north. I will hopefully come up with an alternative. Only other concern is small wildlife deciding to invoke squatter’s rights by making the sandbox their home. So far, there has been no indication of this, but winter is coming. I am just hoping removal of the cover next spring does not indicate a bunch of chipmunks decided to recreate Animal House.

The sandbox design is great. It was easy to put together, holds 850 lbs of sand, and although it's made of relatively sturdy plastic, it's still has held up for the past 6 months very well. We love the seats, and even got the matching umbrella which also works pretty well. The reason we gave this product 3 stars instead of 4 is the AWFUL cover that it came with. It was so cheap that it ripped within a few weeks after we received the sandbox. I'm not sure how it ripped, but it's paper-thin and once a tear occurs (which it will eventually for you too), there's no stopping it. Within 3 months we had 16 different rips and the cover was useless. Why would sandlock make a decent sandbox but include such an awful cover? Really bad for their brand.

The sandbox works fine. Holds about 800lbs of sand and works as advertised. The custom cover is a work of pure extortion, made from what I assume is tissue paper and a brittle weave of straw. $130 tissue paper, I might add, if we want to replace it (that's what a 5x5 cover costs in its own, nearly the same price as the sandbox itself!!!). See, we followed all the instructions, carefully placed the ball under the tarp for water to run off. Less than 4 months later, the thing rips...for no reason we can fathom other than it was manufactured with a blend vampire skin, so when left in the daylight it becomes frail. As for Sandlock customer service? Well, as far as I can tell it does not exist. We've contacted them twice and nothing. Horrible, horrible experience.

The cover rips very, very easily and keeps ripping! At $133 for just the cover, it should hold together better. The 1-888# provided for unbeatable sales says that they are closed for the holiday - what holiday? I called yesterday and today - it is mid-September. Also, the customer service mailbox is full and no messages can be left.I now own a cat litter box -- just hop right in!

I ordered this late on a Wed night and it came on the following Friday. We had to rush out and get sand because it came so quick. We got this for my 2 yr old son for his birthday in June and he and his 4 yr old sister absolutely love it. Could easily set 3 or 4 kids in it. We got 900 lbs of sand and it is pretty full. Hours of fun, and I don't have to worry about them getting splinters. VERY easy to put together, took my husband less than 5 min. We put the toys in the center along with the seats and place the cover on top so the rain pours off. It rained REALLY bad about a month ago along with high winds and I came out the next day fully expecting the sand to be water-filled or at least damp. It was so dry, we actually had to add a little water so we could make sand castles set up. So the cover is very sturdy and works great. This is one product that has upheld its standard of excellence and I highly recommend it.
