SUNWAYFOTOET-02 CF Tripod Extension Tube Carbon Fibre Fiber 2 Section Extender

I didn't even know such a product existed until I had a need for one. Went to photograph fireworks at Disney World, and realized that I required more tripod height to shoot over the heads of all the spectators. I stacked 2 of these together, and it worked great. Very sturdy and well-made. Reasonably priced.

while this is sold as an extension for a tripod center column to increase the maximum height, this is the longer of SunwayFoto's two offerings. because of that, this one is also suitable for use in building a monopod.the locking collar rotates smoothly and locks securely and both ends are finely machined aluminum with a 3/8" threaded receptacle in the base and a 1/4" stud on the top. both platforms are exceedingly smooth and nicely anodized while the carbon fiber tubes are evenly woven, smooth and with no irregularities. the quality is top notch, and in my case, matches the weave and finish of my travel tripod exactly.i bought this not to extend the height of my tripod, but to build a monopod. my tripod has a removable leg, and together with the center column becomes a monopod after screwing the two parts together. removing the center column from my tripod requires removing the sprung hook from it's base, a part i fear losing while on location. so i bought this and a lightweight ball head, requiring only the leg from my tripod to build my monopod and making the transition from one to the other faster and without any risk of losing a critical component.it's probably more cost effective if i had just bought an aluminum monopod but i've never been known for being smart. creative, yes, but not smart.

The extension tube itself seems fine. It comes with two adapter bushings, one of which allows the 3/8-inch threaded mounting hole to accept a typical 1/4-inch threaded tripod mounting bolt. The mounting adapter that came with my extension tube was defective, making the whole thing unusable. I didn't discover this until after Amazon's return period had expired, so I thought I was out of luck. So, my first piece of advice: actually set up the tube when you get it to make sure all is well. But I contacted the seller (John at OECcamera.com) through Amazon, and he immediately sent the correct replacement part. It had to be a specific variant of this kind of adapter without the lip that most of them have, and a little longer than many are; John may have had to cannibalize another extension tube in his stock to find it. This is exactly the kind of excellent service that an online buyer hopes never to need, but that reminds us that there are good people at some firms that sell through Amazon. OECcamera really does stand behind the products they sell. So, my second piece of advice: if you are considering buying this extension tube (and it is a fine choice), I recommend that you get it from OECcamera.

Having this has been great since it allows me to pack a shorter monopod in my backpack. But the only problem is that the twist lock is very easy to loosen accidentally when you're holding it. When that happens you might have a heavy camera slamming down on your hand. So be careful!UPDATE: I found that this can be a bit fragile. My camera had a big and heavy 300mm lens on it and without thinking I picked it up by the monopod. I heard a crunch sound and I discovered that the plate (the part which screws into the camera) had broken off. It looks like it's only attached with one small pin, I guess to make replacement easy. Unfortunately this pin tore right through the carbon fiber. I fixed it with epoxy since I doubt I'll be replacing that part.

At first glance, this item seemed well made. However, it failed after just 3 months. The problem was with the attachment threads. The threaded insert split down the side. Not happy.

When I travel, I usually just carry a Tamrac Zipshot Mini tripod in my bag for those occasional group pictures that we take. Only problem is that the tripod only is only about 2.5 feet high when setup. So there are a lot of times when it's just not high enough to get the proper angle for our shots. Instead of buying an entirely new tripod (or one that's heavy and burdensome for our trip), I decided to just add one of these tripod extension tubes to my arsenal. It only takes a few seconds to setup and raises my camera up to about 4 feet, which has been just enough for our travel photography needs. Only thing weird about the setup is that this tube feels so much sturdier than the base tripod itself. Very good quality build.

I have several of these now and use them all the time. Great for adding a bit of height to a tripod or combining with a clamp to use as a desk mount.

Not made of Carbon fiber...this is clearly aluminum and weighs quite a bit as well. As I was needing a carbon fiber tube for the light weight I'm pretty disappointed...I assumed the stated weight was with all the packaging. Picture you can see the inside is an aluminum tube.

Custom built with add on monopod stand and quick detach ballhead. Strong and sturdy perfect for travelling use, easy to carry around for my vacations.Wonder why no such product available (carbon fiber type) now have to made it myself.Glad Sunwayfoto made such extension tube and fit in my application.

This is exactly what I needed! The product it's very light, and feels sturdy. I use it as an extension to my zhiyun crane and it's perfect! The package arrived earlier than expected too. Super happy

古いコンパクトなカーボンGITZOの延長用に軽量そうなので購入しました。下が3/8で上が1/4でネジ変換アダプター付きで親切。仕上げはわりと良く出来てる感あり。ただ下のネジ穴は軽量化の為か多分アルミ素材に直接穴あけしてあるみたいで脱着を繰り返した時には耐久性に少し不安が残ります。で実際に装着して使用してみました。まず残念ことに真っ直ぐにはならずに少し傾いてしまいます。ネジ穴かネジ穴の土台部分とカーボン脚の接合部の傾きかは分かりませんが明らかに少し傾いてますね。実用には問題ないでしょうが気分的にガッカリ。剛性感はそれなりに有り伸長部分のロックネジ部分もしっかりしまります。出先で三脚使用時に後少し高さを上げたい時など、もしもの時などあればとても便利な製品だとおもいました。真っ直ぐならばいいなぁ〜（同様な製品がS社でもありますがロック部分がGITZOと同じネジこみ型にこだわってみました。）一番長く伸ばして使用しているとポールが曲がっているのでカメラの水平が取りにくい事に気づいてしまったので星マイナス１に変更

三脚の高さが足りない時用に購入しましたが、カーボン製なのでしっかりとしていて軽量。コスパはやや低めですが、安心感で星4つとしました。

１・2回の使用で接着部分が取れて、使用不能になりました！カメラが付いていたらアウトでした。
