Product Description Blood. Sweat. Tears. Some journeys cost more than others - what are you willing to sacrifice? Ed and Al leave for the countryside to search for Doctor Marcoh, a State Alchemist who deserted during the Eastern Rebellion and is now a fugitive of the state. On the run from both Scar and the military, Doctor Marcoh confesses to the Elrics. A decade ago, State Alchimists were called into Ishbal to end a seven-year civil war. What followed was a wave of unspeakable atrocities that neither the Ishbalans, nor the State Alchmists who committed them, can forget. .com Edward and Alphonse Elric learn difficult lessons that affect their perceptions of themselves and their profession as Fullmetal Alchemist continues. They learn that the murderous vendetta Scar is conducting against State Alchemists grew out of the rebellion of Ishbal. They learn that Dr. Marcoh created an imperfect version of the Philosopher's Stone that the State military used to perpetrate a terrible massacre in Ishbal. When they are injured by Scar, Ed and Al learn to accept the aid of the gargantuan Alex Louis Armstrong. Ultimately, the brothers learn how necessary they are to each other. The serious moments are balanced against broad comedy: Al finds himself reduced to the status of baggage; Ed remains as hot-tempered as ever. While the Elric brothers struggle through their adventures, the mysterious figures of Lust, Envy, and Gluttony remain in the background, trying to control events. (Rated TV PG: violence, minor risqué humor, alcohol and tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

A Touching Turning Point
I love this series, the characters are strong but real, while at times they act on impulse sometimes they make choices that are human. Some choices are mature, this fits the Ed and Al, they are that way because they have had to be independent from a young age. The voice of youth still lives with them and that is most evident in episode 13 "Fullmetal vs. Flame" which I found to be a humerous episode that also gives a hint to the dark past of the army's involvement in the eastern rebellion. This is the main theme throughout this volume you begin to understand the mysterious past, and the situation of the present becomes clearer. I also found episodes 15 "The Ishbal Massacre" and 16 "That Which is Lost" rather touching because you see the brothers very close bond with each other and how they use each other for their strength. You also get a glimpse into the life of a war veteran, and what he has to say is rather touching and meaningful. This volume is a must for the series the only thing is that to know what happens next you must purchase Volume 5 "The cost of Living"

Fantastic
maybe it's just because i'm obsessed with this show, but this is one of the best i've seen. it has all the qualities i love about Fullmetal Alchemist, comedy, action, meaningful plotlines, all in just four episodes. It's not reccomended for younger people or people who don't like violence, but if you can put up with that, it's definitely worth buying.
